Gear videos are my favorite. I have not tried light AF, but took some notes and a few things I need.

9:26 You won't need that in sections ABC. Waters a plenty.
Nights are very very cold, and you're not even in the Sierra's.
What they call the deserts are not really deserts but high altitude rocky flatlands(chaparrel)
Get to 40, 30 and 20's at night. Means lots of moisture and condensation.
Keep an eye out for camping outfitters at the local townspots.
You will be upgrading to a proper double wall eventually.
Condensation, morning packing wet stuff(heavy), and then stopping to dry in sun for an hour can get old, quick.
Good luck. Hammer.

Good luck on the journey! I don't want to jinx it but I can't wait to see how your new gear fares on the trip; I've always had cruddy luck adding new stuff at the last min.

100% with you on the arbitrary nonsense of a base weight, makes no difference to your back when that's never what you're carrying. People out counting grams on their gear but ignoring sugar grams in their food and fat on their bellys.

Looks like a pretty good loadout. Curious on the decision for the hyperlite. In my experience the shoulder straps are too thin, and a floating hip belt transfers weight so, so much better while making you much more maneuverable. Good luck on your hike! Also the alpha direct is actually really nice under your sunshirt for the mornings/ evenings

I always think that as well, when I see all those tips from trekking poles that are totally gone... What an earth have you been doing 😅

I am really rough on my poles but after years still no tips that are gone.

Awesome gear selection, hopefully it all does well for ya. Looking forward to the videos. I may have missed something somewhere but is Lil Chap gonna be hiking with ya? Seen his recent videos. Just wondering..

Awesome video, thanks for your work. Im heading to the AT in April so this was a really nice video for me as im dialing in the final touches of my gear. I do have a random question; what pieces of gear from your experience are you not allowed to fly with(fuel canisters, fluids over a certain oz., etc)?

And I believe Frozen from Outdoor Adventures is starting around the same time as you too.. if you’re familiar with him.🤷🏻‍♂️

Your packing out dirty toilet paper right? I carry a ziplock for that. Too much used toilet paper in the forest. Pete
