Western Tanagers: hot redheads

When you see a Western Tanager you pray to God for the right lighting conditions to capture a decent shot of one of these beautiful songbirds. Mature males have a shockingly red head that my crappy old consumer video camera can't quite manage to reproduce properly. You almost need to protect your retinas from being seared by the red's intensity. Anyway, I'm lucky if I see a tanager even once a year.
