Yamaha YEV and NS Design WAV Electric Violins

Professional performers rarely play live with a YEV, but the NS is common. For example, David Ragsdale often played on an NS when he toured with Kansas.

To my untrained ears, the NS Designs sounds a lot richer, like there's more in the mid/low range than the YEV.

1: Would you prefer the NS Design WAV or the Yamaha YEV?

2: Is the Yamaha YEV available to do silent practicing? I need an electric violin to practice on without bothering people late at night.

Do you have any good suggestions for strings for a 5 string? I recently got an NS 5 string and I have to say while the instrument feels fairly nice it just doesn't sound nearly as good as my 4 string yamaha. And the difference is super obvious even without plugging into an amp so I feel just a decent set of strings might make a pretty big difference.

hearing the NS tune from one side only, any issues having to keep on turning the turner when you dont have the violin head to make larger adjustments?

What shoulder rest would you recommend for the YEV? I’ve tried multiple (albeit cheap) for my classical viola, but I’ve never liked the way any shoulder rest feels. I will often play without any, but want to have a good one when I get my EV.

On acoustic violin, the type of strings matters a lot for the sound, is it the same for electric?
Is it possible to use acoustic strings on electric violin?
