I learned this song in Patch the Pirate Club when I was 6 years old; and this song has seen me through many trials, from my Momma’s passing in 2012 to coming to college in the fall of 2020. This song will always hold a special place in my heart.

In 1973, I was blessed to be a voice student of then, graduate assistant Ron Hamilton. He was incredibly talented, popular on campus, and patient with this 16 year old college freshman. I will forever be thankful for Ron's impact on my life, his music ministry to my children as Patch the Pirate, and the many compositions he and Shelley produced for our churches. Yes that secret place thanks for that bible hymn. Many a time I look back and see how God's Grace helped me speak at my dad's funeral where my three brothers got saved to my brother and mothers funeral where they just died twenty min.a part.

I heard this for the first time at 17, when the Hamilton family visited our church. They played this song before the sermon began. Ron Hamilton was unable to join his family because his health was already going downhill. It was so touching. By the end of the song, I needed tissues to keep up with the tears. RIP Ron Hamilton. ❤

And add to that my children loving Patch The Pirate. And then you take this video in your home, singing about God's word, and being there in the Secret Place. It's just beautiful. I just finished reading Always Only Good by Shelly Hamilton. My daughter has mental illness and I could relate to much of the book. I cried a lot. Jonathan was a beautiful soul. I feel like I know him. Good job on the book Shelly. God bless all of you.
