Synchronicity

Synchronicity is one of Jung's most intriguing ideas -- and one of the most difficult to understand. Jung coined the term to refer to coincidences that feel charged with emotion and meaning. How did Jung come to speculate on the nature of such events, and what role did theoretical physics play in shaping this theory? How can you be sure a coincidence is, in fact, meaningful? We each share an example of a synchronicity from our own experience.

The dream:

My son jumped into the sea in a dockyard against my wishes and didn’t resurface.

"...So we are interested in patterns. ...and we are interested in meaning. ...and I'm thinking that the...you know, underneath this, behind this, is a desire to know that we are not alone. ...and when something special, and magical, and mystical happens, that is not causal, it's reassuring. It's a gift." ~ Debra Stewart, Jungian Analyst

The stories highlighting synchronicity were riveting and compelling. I have been experiencing this phenomenon for the past five years in varying and increasing intensity. These past six months though have been nothing I have ever seen which lets me know that something monumental is going to happen! I can’t even tell people some of these stories because I would get written off as crazy. But the line that really got me in this video was when one of the presenters said how people could write these instances off as coincidence and how that didn’t even matter because the effect is really what the effect has on the listener. In my instance because I am a Christian, my faith in God has increased to believe that He is orchestrating my steps and that he is concerned with my well being

As i was listening to Lisa talk about the book she bought, i immediately thought of this Joseph Campbell book I've been eyeing for a year but never actually bought it. And then I got to thinking about all the times I noted synchronicities in my life. I had a post-it on my bedroom door where I would write every synchronicity, and while listening to Lisa talk I looked at the door to find that the post it is not there. I got up and opened one of my drawers where I keep all my notebooks to look for the post-it. As I was looking through a clutter of papers, and notebooks I came across a notebook from 2020, I shook it to see if any post-its will fall out. A page fell out and when I read what I had written on that page there was a quote from Joseph Campbell from Pathways to Bliss. I guess this means I need to go buy the book tomorrow!

What a wonderful place(channel) to come when my mind gets too heavy these days. I thought I was on my own with my synchronicities, till I just looked up the word in Google. Jung holds the best explanation I've found... still unsure of a lot of the terminology but the message is there to find. Thankyou, Doctors.

After my mother died, my five year old nephew said 'Granny is a butterfly'. Shortly after that, an old butterfly flew in her bedroom window and sat on her pillow for a week. When I research in my field - Shi'i Islam - it has happened so often that I have a question in my mind, I 'randomly' open a book, and the answer is there.

I so often live consciously in this amazing phenomenon....I'm a recovered alcoholic and since undertaking a 12 step recovery program several years ago evidence of synchronisity is paramount in my life. It's often so pronounced that my friends and I often laugh about it. I call it the fourth dimension of consciousness, fascinating and so beautiful 🎉

I remember watching this programme the scientists were trying to track the electricity signals in the brain and and on the nerve endings. As an experiment they would prick the finger of the test subject to see how quickly the neural stimulus is detected in the brain. The subject didn't know when or how. Surprisingly the brain would light up a fraction of a second before the stimulus was made as if it knew beforehand. I guess if we think linearly it is easy to expect only as a cause and effect relationship in our lives, at the end of the day we are living in a three dimensional universe but let's not forget that it is not all to all there is. Just like other dimensions exist definitely there exists other forms of comprehension. Maybe the answer is learning to think in circles that opens up the way to spirals so that the traditional cause and effect relationship that sometimes keeps us stuck may give way to better understanding of synchronicity..

I think it’s important to remember that each person who has a ‘meaningful synchronicity’..to say they didn’t do anything to manipulate it’s happening isn’t completely correct. Why? because they had a life question that needed an answer and it just so happens that she for whatever reason was on that subway at that time to discover the newspaper right? She had the presence of mind to listen to inner urges like - pick up the paper - be mindful about why she felt compelled to look at the paper - trusting that there is guidance to bring forth and manifest syncs to answer our meaningful questions.

The dream shared in this video was by the woman who "lost her son into the ocean". Even though this video with this dream was from 5 years ago, Youtube suggested it to me the day after the Titan submarine passengers were declared dead in the ocean while exploring the Titanic. The synchronicities are starting to layer upon themselves.

I'm impressed; the dream interpretation is excellent. I've been searching for a valid dream interpretation channel. I try to interpret all my dreams, because they give me the pictorial of what my current issues are.
I think it's easier to interpret one's own dreams than those of others. At the end of your dream analysis, I believe you were on target!
When will you return?

I experience it about 4 times per day. They're fast, so I cannot predict willfully, but at a certain point there is no need; just embrace it when it occurs.

The sad part is if synchronicity or pre cognitive dreams warn about bad things. Bone crushing events.
Waiting for good times

when you begin trying to distinguish synchronicities by saying they need to be
"deeply meaningful to the soul, " I think you overstep yourselves, because a lot of synchronicities are there to wake you up, and they may not initially seem deeply meaningful, though they are manifestations of your psychic energy, and as such are indeed synchronicities in the way Jung was speaking of.

I’d have to listen again but when her son jumped into the ocean, was he a child then but in waking life an adult? The ocean whether calm or turbulent often represents emotions. Like what the one commentator said that the dock is a human construct that controls ones interaction with the ocean or emotions. Either we jump all in or we tip toe around it’s role in our lives which is absolute right? So avoidance as opposed to embracing. If in the dream he jumped in a child but in real time is a man, she may be longing for the child- not wanting him to grow up because ultimately a child is dependent on parents and when they’re adults they shouldn’t need their parent in the same way once they are mature. So she feels loss and knowing that child will never come back and the fact that it’s a dock where conditions appear to be in order where there is harmony between the sea and land (via the dock) could indicate that the child is fine and mom needs to reconcile her role as mother and realize that she was caretaker of this child and her role transitioned when he became a man. Perhaps she’s living in the past and not appreciating the now and not accepting that he doesn’t really ‘need her’ in the same sense and that she needs to be present in his seemingly successful maturity. Also want to make mention that living in a city that had a port of entry via the water (goods were brought from other parts of the world- different people with new ideas etc..), that city was typically prosperous and success was available to anyone who had access to it. Sounds like a classic indication she hated the fact that he was no longer her ‘little boy’ that gave her life meaning I’m guessing failing to notice her opportunity to benefit from the same bounty the port could bring her personal development

Where in the dream interpretation was divorce mentioned? The woman is 48, best guess is that her son is somewhere between 18 and 22, meaning he's going to be in a transitory period of life. It's at this stage that he has to jump into the unknown (against her innate desire to protect him - safe Harbor) and find himself in what she knows to be the dangerous world (the ocean). She has to accept that she has to let him go.

Wow that’s a deep dive into dreams 😮 I’m happier not remembering mine and just letting the subconscious play it out without my assistance hopefully 🤞😅
