I remember a poster at Ft Bragg that said: Rank comes quicker when the duty is tougher.

I was in the signal corp and I really loved that branch. Lots of really great people in the signal corp I would definitely recommend it.

It's not up to the recruiter to tell you what MOS works for you. Don't let them convince or sell something to you that has no interest to you. They have a list of slots that need to be filled to try to contract first and this can work to your disadvantage if you don't already have something in mind.

Same advice can be used when you re-up! Don’t like your current MOS? Change it. I went from being an M1 mechanic 63E to an air traffic controller 93C. AIT is much better when you go through as an NCO.

Do what you have a passion, but also look at jobs that can transfer over well in the civilian side. Choose your top 3 in case one isn't available, but if there's a job your refuse to settle for less about, wait for it. Ultimately it's your career. You should do what you love. It will make military life so much better.

Don't let recruiter tell you you only have 3 choices due to asvab score. Complete bullshit. They do this to fill spots army wants and they get a bonus for doing it. Tell them you'll join if you can be " whatever you want " to hey will make it happen before loosing you. My recruiter sold top secret stuff to Germany as nd was court martialed

#1 study and get a good score on the asvab so you can pick your job.

Military intelligence has the highest civilian transferability. You will literally be doing the same job as civilians just paid a whole hell of a lot less and dealing with extra bs. But hey it’s a foot in the door at least. The majority of army jobs have zero civilian transferability. Pick one that does please for your own sake!

Pick a mos you would like to do. Learn as much as you can. Good luck.

I was turned down due to health issues(I have lousy hearing), but I was using DEP and going for MP. Make it for life, then get picked by any cop shop

Navy vet. Sometimes it’s difficult for a 19 or 20 year to choose what they want to do in any branch. An opportunity may open that sounds interesting, jump on it. Participate in any training that’s offered. At least that’s what I did and learned a lot about what other people did day to day.

Well I initially wanted an office job but their is none and the job I was offered were all combat since I have not interest in particular I pick 19kilo so I guesse I’ll see what that is .

I’d advise similar things myself :)

42R yo…I literally had to tell my recruiters it was that or I wouldn’t be joining. Took me 3.5 years, but I finally got there and am graduating AIT in a week

If you're reading this choose Infantry, trust me you won't regret it.

PS: You only need to score @ 30 and you can transfer that job anywhere. Trust me.

But your Asvab score will determine what MOS you're allowed to do.
