I'd almost take exactly the opposite approach.

If I wanted different sounds, I'd much rather have one instrument which can give a versatile range of sounds over multiple instruments. I don't want to have to get comfortable with the feel and controls of half a dozen different basses.

As it is, I don't have much need for different sounds. Certainly not anything I can't achieve with eq on my amp or pedals.

The only argument for me having multiple basses at all really is having a backup if one isn't working. So it's important if anything that I can make it sound at least similar to my main bass.

Any basses beyond that are just a luxury, which I'd be owning for no reason other than because I want them, so the only factor that matters is if I like them. So if I want to own half a dozen Fender Mustangs, I think that makes perfect sense. 🙃

Great video - especially for bass nerds like me! Always loved that 59 reissue P of yours - (v interested to hear you’re using the really heavy chromes on that as I love that sound) Also loved hearing the Warwick semi-hollow. Lovely stuff 👍👍👍👍👍

Great idea for a video. I recently decided I'm no longer a beginner and got myself a Ibanez sr500 for my intermediate hands! I love it. I'm gonna compliment that with a sub ray, so I've got a pub band weekend warrior tool. Haven't seen you talk about Ibanez

Can tell that Sadowsky 4 string is well loved! Fingerboard could use a cleaning lol ;)

At one point I was considering owning a J and a P. I own them now, too bad I own a maple fretboard J (without blocks) and a maple fretboard P and I'd like to have a proper P with rosewood fingerboard and a modern J with rosewood too. But I won't buy another J in the near future because otherwise I'd want a '70s J (maple fretboard) too and I can't afford it now.

BTW, I really love custom colours but I've always been scared of getting tired of them pretty soon and that's why I only own "classic" colours such as natural, olympic white, black & 3-tone sunburst basses!

What do you think about basses with maple fingerboards? And why do you prefer alder bodies to ash? Just curious. Very good video!

What’s missing? A shortscale and a headless. You could get both in one with the Ibanez EHB range.

I’m looking for comfort. Light weight and a playable neck; thin with low action.

What about a multi scale like Dingwall?

Great videos. But, I didn't realize you are so tall. You take up that whole sofa! 😂
