We were thrilled to spend last Sunday with drumming phenom Mike Mitchell / Blaque Dynamite – here is a quick tour of his unique drum kit!

Mike Mitchell has been playing drums since he was two years old. He was introduced, seriously to jazz at age 14, which was the beginning of his study of the art form. By age 17, he had performed/toured with Derrick Hodge, Kamasi Washington, Jon Bap, Polyrhythmic, 7 Davis jr, Ruth B, Chrisette Michel, New World Order, and Stanley Clarke. Mike is currently in the final stages of completing his sophomore project, Killing Bugs and continues to tour and record with today's top artists.

That gong sheet ride is killin and toms with a 7" depth is where its at

My rack toms are 7” deep, I use 15” and 18” floors both with a 14” depth. and Maple Mahogany. Killer!

If money was no object, or I was endorsed by DW, the Purpleheart drum set if my absolute favorite kit they make. But I have a hard time understanding why you would not keep the natural color of the Purpleheart tone wood? It is Purple after all, I don't know why you would cover it up. Still nice drumset
