I've been looking forward to driving the all-electric Ford F-150 for a while now! But...does it actually live up to the task of being usable as a dual-cab ute? Only one way to find out! Paul Maric does a comprehensive review to see if it's any good.

Our regulations vary from the US. Not necessarily 'backwards'. Nothing wrong, for example, amber indicator lights.

Not sure I'd call amber indicators backwards Paul! They're proven to reduce collisions...

I've done a bit of off-roading in mine, but I have a better setup - 2" levelling lift in the back, maxxis razr AT tires, electric side steps. It's fantastic and if you're crawling around at low speeds you don't use much charge. The break-over angle is still a bit of a pain, but there's always something that's limiting. Since the offroad mode doesn't do the 1-pedal style regen, I found it better to switch to sports mode going downhill. The regen "holds" your position and you can feather the throttle to control descent. However I hope they improve the offroad mode to handle hill descent better.

Recently I did a near 600km day trip that cost me about $45 in charging (btw in rural qld, the chargers are a bit slow which is not ideal). An equivalent F150 ICE would have cost around $145 in fuel for the same trip.

There might be many Australian rules - but I wouldn't call them backward. They aim to make cars safer.

Backwards and weird!? We have RHD so our sword hand is free to engage oncoming traffic! 🙄

I wouldn't dare to say that Australia is backwards in any sense, especially when compared with the US, where this vehicle comes from.
By the way, steering wheel on the right side, just an inheritance of the British empire, but by far not the only country, so not sure how that is backwards. And i definitely prefer steering wheel on the left side, but nothing to do with any supposed progressiveness of such configuration.

Still don’t understand why anyone would want to buy this especially at that price

I had an earlier model and they were a beast of a truck. 351 4 speed.

Great video as always Paul.
I am not a tradie, nor do I go 4WD'ing however need a ute as I live on acreage. At the same time my day job requires the luxury touch with the interior and I have been waiting a long time for the right ute which will house my large family (and not have their knees up near their chest in the second row - take a bow Ranger/Amarok), handle a load of dirt in the tray and tow heavy loads.
This vehicle is perfect except for the even the Lariat is crazy priced. Now waiting for the BYD Shark 🤞

I just did almost 4000k’s from Canberra to QLD towing my race car.
The F150 I have with the 3.5V6TT was a DREAM to tow!
Fuel consumption was 22-23L/100 which is more than last time I did it with a ranger but it never slowed down and couldn’t tell it was there really.
I did the 1200k trip in one day. Stopping for fuel every 500-600 just to be safe.
If I did this trip in this lightening it would 3 days!!!!
That’s the wild part

I propose that in Australia the Front Trunk should be called the Froot

Can’t wait to see one..probably about 3 inches from my rear bumper if they’re driven like the ICE versions

The car was a mess over the bumps, but he praises it for "not falling apart"! Wow, great achievement. Also, 4.61sec is way more than 4.0 sec, but he says it's great. I remember he hammered Corolla Cross for being out by a similar percentage.

I think the Shark might be much better choice

When an average vehicle used to be under Fifty grand for the average Aussie, what's your real thinking on this almost $200, 000 Ute .
One aspect with the testing is it's not the real world is it ?
Not loaded with gear and passengers which is normal !
One would think that a better Tyre choice needs to be made, finding the balance of EV suitable and load or off road usage will be hard, wear from Aussie roads may test them
The truck looks a bit under sprung, maybe more travel with extra height adding to ground clearance.
Certainly there is cautionary thinking for this to be off road suitable, the mere worry about bashing the battery is high priority.
