How Bad is iOS 15 on these Old Apple devices?

While Android users are lucky to get maybe one or three OS upgrades, Apple will be giving their 7 year old iPad Air 2 iOS 15. For over a week Jonathan used it and an iPhone SE (1st gen) to see what it's like to use the latest software on the oldest tech.

Mac address is the one of the few apple based channel that gives us "content that we usually didnt ask for but are soo glad that they did" type of content. Very usual and intresting

"The iPhone 6s will be able to run iOS 15"

Me, with an iPhone 6: 😭

It’s actually impressive how long Apple support their older products.

I am so glad that this channel posts engaging and creative Apple content. It’s so refreshing when there are so many channels focused on “leaks” and rumours, using click bait titles and thumbnails for views!

I absolutely love the longevity factor that comes with apple products

When your device is this old, you may want to do a Restore (from scratch) install of iOS 15, then manually reinstall your apps. Guarantee the phone will run reasonably fast.

This is the first time I notice that you guys combined the roles at the end of the video, like "Director and Producer" for Linus or "Host and Write" for Jonathan.
Looks a lot better and cleaner!

Haha, watching from an iPad Air 2. I was genuinely confused when I learnt I was going to get iPadOS 15. After this amazing experience I won't think twice before buying my first iPhone this year. 13 Series if it's a worthy upgrade.

My iPad Air 2 is still alive and kicking as my gf's netflix and youtube machine. Still performs well, can even play modern games with varying degrees of success

I love the support apple gives to their devices, I'm still on an iPhone 7 and see no reason to buy something new.

I had an iPad 4 from launch and retired it just recently, I'm currently in the market for a new iPad.

In contrast, my Android Xperia Play didn't receive even one update.

I still use an My moms iPad Air 2 and I gotta say, for a 7 year old device it is holding on pretty damn well

Just gave an old iPhone 6 we had laying around to my grandmother. It might not be running the latest version of iOS, but it’s still technically supported. iOS 12 have been updated 5 times this year, mainly for security reasons. That means that there’s even older devices than the one you showed that are still up to date on a security level.

Got an iPhone 6S for Christmas 2015 and I love it. Never have had to take it to the store other than for a battery replacement back when batterygate was a thing and they were cheap. Only issue I'm running up against is my 16 GB of storage, other than that and a bit of screen burn-in and it works flawlessly.

I have some thoughts about this videos production, I hope you receive it in a positive manner :)

I though this video was about longevity of Apple devices, as it was presented at the beginning and in the thumbnail, but it shifted to be about iOS 15 features, which was slightly confusing.

Also the “take my things and go away” transition is a bit over-used in your videos. I’d suggest finding less repetitive and more creative ways to transition between topics.

Nonetheless, I do appreciate this channels creative approach, which is so different from a normal LMG video :) keep up the good work!

I have that specific SE. I absolutely love it. I bought it in 2016 and I swear I had no slow-downs whatsoever. Might be totally subjective, obviously. I had used the 4S for so long and iOS there _significantly_ worsened my experience. At some point it was so bad, that it just turned off at 80% energy. This didn't happen with the SE at all. It still feels as smooth as before. One of the big reasons for why I haven't upgraded is because I hate the newer iPhones rounded design and the SE had these beautiful sharp edges. The new mini has it as well, so I'm gonna upgrade as soon as I can afford it.

Watching on my iPhone SE (1st Gen). I am saving money to buy the iPhone 14 since iOS 15 is supported for this and there's no reason to upgrade this year.

Typing this on a perfectly functional iPad Air 2 that I bought last month for 90 bucks because it has a small scratch on the screen. The 90 bucks I made selling a pristine iPad 2 that I got for free. This video is just the cherry on top of that deal. Good stuff, thanks Jonathan!

1:40 yeah about that most Androids are Galaxys and most get 3 years of Software and 4 years of Security Updates... Still not comparable to iPhones tho

EDIT: Samsung bummed it up to 4 years of Software updates and 5 years of Security updates.

Still got my iPhone 6S Plus as my main phone since it was released. Such a great phone, just haven’t felt the need to upgrade so far!
