One of my pet peeves is when people harp on the lack of cargo space on small vehicles. That is kinda the point compared to the larger SUVs. Not all of us want to drive a large vehicle around every day, especially if it’s usually just one or two people in a car. Let us have nice small cars!!!

I love my UX300h - I had driven a hatchback for years and was looking for an upgrade. I wanted a Lexus that looked similar in shape and had the same handling around bends (so no tall SUV bodies). In short, the UX300h is for someone who's after a Lexus and a hatchback. Where I am, they market it as a compact SUV, so it's perplexing critics go on about the cargo space in contrast to an SUV. I didn't look to Lexus for a badass car - badass means higher maintenance (faster wear of parts), I wanted reliability and a luxuriously quiet ride - although the car certainly has no issues overtaking or merging onto the highway. On the roads, where a lot of people love to zoom around breaking speed limits, I am often quite comfortable going at the speed limit or even cruising behind slower-moving vehicles, just relishing the commutes.

Purchased my wife a CPO UX 250h premium model last year with only 8k miles for 34k out the door. It’s a great reliable little vehicle that checks all the boxes for her.

The BMW and Mercedes may be nice for another 3yrs on a lease, but if you want to own it long-term Lexus all day long.

Thanks Jen and Mary! I've driven the previous generation UX 250h and liked it. Great city car for single professional.

I'd call it more of a luxury hatchback than an SUV. And for the price I think it's a great buy.

Please mention about the new hybrid power train. Biggest advantage of this vehicle. Hybrid power train is standard in UX.

I was looking for a hybrid with awd that was small. So between this and the corolla hybrid Ill go for this because if the more quiet and smooth ride

My wife owns one. It's an awesome hatchback. In my opinion, it's only worth it if one gets it under $35k.

It’s interesting to get the female perspective on a new vehicle in this very nice review. The guys review it and see how fast he can get to 60 miles an hour as that is everything allegedly to every buyer. Also does the Mercedes or BMW Competitive base SUV models offer the same or even similar MPG?

I like to think of the UX as a glorified Corolla Cross. If they stuck the GR Corolla engine in the UX, it’d make it infinitely more exciting, but then again we’re talking about a small crossover. I’d much rather go for a base model Lexus IS, if I were looking to get into a Lexus.

50k is comfortable ES money which is a way more subtantial car. Heck that's lower end NX money if you want to stay CUV.

Looks good though. Being a Toyota/ Lex, would be a great 3 year old off lease car to pick up.

Great review - Jen, you (and Mary) are such a great addition to TFL! My take on this car is largely the same as you guys', ...in addition to its intrinsic limitations (size, etc), it needs a bit of help in the luxe department. Lexus, like the Toyota-brand of its parent corp seems to be struggling these past couple (?) of years in that department - resting on its laurels. That rear cargo does look compromised (high floor contributing) and related lift-over looks excessive, maybe due to battery? You did not mention, but since the UX's larger cousin, NX's roof doesn't open, I assume this one doesn't either - another demerit. On the brighter side, speaking of "ux, " the user interface for the infotainment and HVAC controls etc, looks excellent. Although I am a blue person, I am more conservative with colors and am with Mary on this particular shade, but also agree with Jen that at least it's a break from the usual gray, silver, black, white, etc.

This thing is hardly an SUV. More of a hatchback.

The center console is pretty wide. Does it interfere with the leg room on the driver's side?

I could not imagine getting this over an ES350h for basically the same price.

It costs $50k and only the front seats are usable. What a great car!

Why is it that 98% of car reviewers despise smaller vehicles?

Why do you think every single person needs a huge vehicle just to pick up a pint of milk?

In Europe thats a company car, because no one buys the UX. Expensive and Small.
