As a newbie to the NOJV. I ask myself, "Where have I been all my life." How have a missed t his fine group. Thanks for You Tube!
I'm not some kid = 77 yrs. and I flatter myself to consider myself a fan and former woodwind (clarinet & alto & tenor sax) of jazz.
The more I dig into YT the more discoveries I make + Cheers!

My jazz tastes were formed back in the mid to late 50s and early 60s. Big Band of the 30s and onward. The Duke and the Count. Ella = Yes!
Ragtime and King Creole. The Blues of the Mississippi Delta, etc. the 1950s Dave Brubeck, the NYC Jazz Scene, and so on. New Orleans' Dixieland, Al Hirt, The Dukes of Dixieland, Pete Fountain, and that era. I could carry on with name dropping for hours. but, I hope you catch my drift. What I consider "real jazz" and not the noise that passes for popular music in the 21st century. A modern interpreter of classic NO jazz is Tuba Skinny. Gosh, I wish I could travel down to NO more frequently.

And, how do these folks earn a living? Where do we donate $ for their performances?

It is so nice to see Molly Reeves in action again. Love her singing and guitar playing. I enjoyed watching videos of her and the other 5 women in the Shake 'Em Up Jazz Band.

What can you say about Molly Reeves. First and foremost the girl SWINGS HARD! Second of all her percussive style of rhythm playing makes it sound like there's a drummer playing which there isn't of course but that driving beat of hers locks the whole group tight into the pocket. Sometimes a guitar player in the back is overlooked when you're watching the soloists out front but when you ask yourself what makes this group swing so hard you immediately lock on to Molly's guitar playing. It's like she's this tiny little powerhouse that's driving the whole band. I noticed how the Shake Em Up Jazz Band also swung really hard and now I see why. I think it's also great to hear a feminine take in a male dominated field. Perhaps it's that delicate touch that catches your ear. Great video.

Love the saxo's singing. Full of underground character and life's pain.

One of my favorite bands I discovered thanks to HBO's Treme more than a decade ago. Time flies but good music stays!

What a great concert. It's so good to see that the wonderful NOLA music is alive after(?) the pandemic and the Vipers are still active - and it seems even better than ever. Joe Braun is cool as ever on alto & vocals, Earl Bonie has some excellent parts both on tenor and on clarinet, the piano player seems to be a guest or new to some of the less familiar tunes, but is an excellent pianist, and Craig Klein on trombone and the wonderful Molly Reeves on guitar are a pure pleasure to listen to, especially in their vocal duets. Video and audio quality are superb! Thank you very much for free posting this valuable hour and a half of outstanding New Orleans music!

Molly Reeves is the sizzle in the skillet! The whole band is absolutely top shelf and Molly is the Scotch Bonnet!

to wwoz, a complete list of personnel would be appreciated ! I know only Molly Reeves on guitar, and Craig Klein on trombone . Saw the Vipers in Ascona a few years ago without pianist, but with Kevin Louis on trumpet, woulkd have been so nice to have both.

A stick of tea, I'm viper mad, I love this band . Excellent sound and interpretation. Professional . Second tune really set the stage and mood, for me .
As I have heard it said " Community support is vital, tell a friend ". Folk music for folks . I'm diggin the vibe .
