I have "Always different face" syndrome. When I create a character I can never draw the same face in each drawing. It's always somewhat different.

Sam always talks like a depressed grandpa and I’m here for it

An an artist myself, It was a rough watching people pick apart your art for that week. But I think you handled it beautifully. Thank you for showing people you can take a bad experience like this and learn some new skills to teach others. Amazing improvement!

"A lot of times in my experience, people who don't draw, people who don't do much art, tend to find the realistic stuff very impressive. But if you're an artist, once you've mastered realism; there's always that next stage, there's always the stage where you can push your own stylization. You can push your own unique voice."

Very well said! Wise words from an old wise man👏🏻🧠

bruh it is so genius to turn the twitter drama into an educational video for artists. Like this is golden content right here

I think it's good that you are acknowledging this and trying to improve instead of just ignoring criticism. Also, I hope you're doing well because the amount of mean post I've seen making fun of you for this is crazy some people take it way too far.

What I really like about Sam is that he is not hiding or trying to show us only the perfectly polished results. Obviously, he nailed all art in this vid, but I truly enjoyed watching him learn something new :)

I typically draw animals only, specifically cats, and I’ve just noticed that even cats have different face shapes, muzzle sizes, fur textures, eye sizes, nose sizes, and much, much more! Thank you for this video. It really has inspired me to go do better.

I found it quite disgusting that people on Twitter were saying why you drew faces like that was simply because it was the type of face you were attracted to instead of the obvious reason that an artist may draw the same face again and again out of habit and ease, it was so weird seeing people on Twitter accuse you of weird shit when it’s just same face syndrome

Twitter: Sam has Same Face Syndrome because he can only draw the kind of face that appeals to him >:(
Sam: *calmly proves that he can, indeed, draw other faces, any faces in fact, all while helping others break out of their own Same Face Syndrome too*

You addressed this like a champ, Sam. Well done, we stan an unbothered yet responsible creator who's willing to take any kind of criticism and work with it. Sam went full Oogway on the fans and haters

Not everyone has the guts and humility to acknowledge they've been wrong and try and improve themselves. I think that's the reason why you came so far, because you didn't settle, you kept searching and improving and questioning yourself. That's what AI won't ever be able to do. That's the kind of passion that defines a true artist.

Also stop calling me a baby, we're the same age dude😒..

I love the characters in Attack on Titan. A lot of Anime rely mostly on hairstyle, haircolor and eyecolor to differentiate the different characters all having the same face. In AoT you can recognize them without hair, just by their face which makes them so much more believable while still being stylized

please tell me why I always get so excited when sam posts

This reminds me of what caricature artists do when they draw people. They take their main distinguishing features and preserve those while making way for the rest to be stylized.

I definitely have same face syndrome. I keep gravitating to features and proportions similar to my own cuz its easiest for me 😭 but that’s exactly why I’m so bored with my work so I’m gonna keep practicing! :)

When I draw now, if I'm not drawing one of my OC's, i tend to just have a set of presets to choose from. The areas that are most important to make a character distinction (in my opinion) are the nose, face shape, and eyes. And once you learn how many variations there are it can feel very powerful
