How to Get Paying Freelance Clients in 2022 | Freelancing Tips for Beginners

This is what I think is the biggest mistake beginner freelancers make because of which they are not able to get their first freelance client. If mistakes ends up wasting hours of freelancers starting their career, which could have been spent on up skilling or finishing projects.

The mistake that most freelancers make is that they watch a bunch of "How to start freelancing in 2021" videos and try to use overcrowded platforms like fiverr, freelancer and upwork. Now I am not here to say that freelancer, fiverr or upwork are not good, infact these are the very platforms that have promoted the whole gig economy.

But you need to understand, when everyone is on it, that's the time to get out of it. It's a saying of the stock market, but is also applicable to freelancing.

What you need to do is this:
1. Build your brand: yes, it takes time, it is no get rich quick scheme, but it works amazingly in the long term. Make content on Linkedin, Instagram and/or YouTube. Depending upon your niche, the platform might change, but the idea is the same. Build your brand as a freelancer.

2. Find unpopular freelancing platforms: research about them and then hop on early.

Good Effort Ishan. But I differ when you say it's luck to get a project at Upwork/Freelancing platforms. I have delivered 200+ contracts at Upwork to date and the count is on. It's more about how you offer a solution by going through the job description.
