The questions to ask people freaked about immigration: 1) How are people crossing national borders, fundamentally different than the many millions crossing state and town borders every day? 2) How is population growth through immigration, fundamentally different than the same growth through domestic birth? More workers, means more consumers, means more taxpayers, means even more jobs. It is really that simple.

Someone said, when the Hamas-Israeli conflict had first started, that older people view the conflict as a political crisis and young people view it as a humanitarian crisis. A lightbulb went off in my head, this statement encapsulates the divisions we see every time the subject is discussed. I apologize for not remembering the name of the talking head who said this, but it was a brilliant statement.
