Great review!
Himiway, if you're reading this, the switch to mechanical brakes from hydraulic brakes while still raising the price is the reason why I did NOT buy your Escape e-bike. I bought from someone else instead. I like almost everything else about the Escape e-bike though.

Thanks Jeremiah, I like the Himi-Escape. But, you're right, the headlight is poor engineering. I'd make a 2x5 aluminum plate to extend the light out in front of the basket. Then flip it over, putting the bracket down and bolting it to the aluminum bar. Make the bar short enough so you can tilt it down to light the ground at night.

I built bikes and battery packs for several years, but finally bought an XP ST a couple of months ago. I'm glad I did. It's a nice bike, and I like the 3 inch tires. I'm surprised the XP really does pull 18 amps, which is maybe 850 watts with a full battery. It doesn't stall on the hills around here. I usually pedal, but don't need to. I have a jumper to use my batteries with the bike. That's the one thing that most of the higher priced ebikes have, a bigger battery. I tested the XP and the capacity is what they say. The XP just is not going to go very far at speeds in the mid-20's. I think Lectric should address it. Maybe they could sell the second batteries for $200, maybe when you buy the bike.

I can't deal with the weight. The motorcycle suspension is great. But wow, that is a heavy ebike. The fixed seat? Your knees just aren't bent enough, the way I see it, so the fixed seat really locks this in as a moped. People should definitely think about that, but you cover it really well.

Himiway is stuck the ebike regs, so it is maybe 800 watts. How much do people want to spend for 800 watts? I don't want to game the regs. I want to keep ebikes unregulated, which means low power. You can see where Honda introduced their new Navi for less than this Himiway. The electric stuff is getting a lot better.

Interesting review. Well worth watching. I can pretty much say I wouldn't buy one, from this review, and I'm glad I have the XP for basic riding. The Chinese are really pushing hard with pretty good designs.

I love this bike. I wish they had a dual batter version. I want to be able to go 50 miles on throttle

I have had an Escape for over a year. Overall I love it! I have rode over 1, 000 miles with little to no issues. Rode 45 miles on flat ground (peddling along the way) with no problem on the Chief Ladiga Trail in Alabama. Mine has hydraulic brakes, would not want the mechanical on a bike this heavy. Speaking of heavy, it is tough to get on and off my bike rack but it is just something I have to deal with. I am also 5' 8" tall and I agree it is the perfect size for me. The kick stand gets beat up by the pedal and looks bad after a while. I made a bracket to raise the basket 1-1/2" to avoid hitting the fender. It's a bad design but an easy fix if you are handy. The seat could be a tad softer to my liking but it is good enough. This bike has POWER compared to some other brands I have ridden. My wife has an Lectric XP Step Though. It about 30 pounds lighter. But not as nice or powerful. But several hundred dollars cheaper. I like it a lot as well.

Isn't it a pity that Himiway would not include a slight adjustment for the saddle. They have that angled post - even 2 or 3 inches would cater for taller riders. For this and other bikes of that seat design (Juiced, Super73 etc) it might not be the most difficult thing to engineer a scissors-type jack mechanism to fit in between the frame and the seat, so as to be able to raise it an inch or two.

Great review! I always learn something from your videos. You're very knowledgeable. I remember you saying a bike you were testing recently was making a noise when the suspension hit top. I started having that issue the last couple rides on my ebike. Do I need to tighten the suspension? Also if you can mount the light on that bike on the basket. Mine came with mounting holes to do so. The only thing I didn't like is the fact it doesn't shine in the direction of the handle bars where you're pointed. I haven't done any night driving so far, so no problems. One other question :I have hydraulic brakes and my back brake makes a ticking noise when engaging it. Sounds like from the inside of the handle grips? Have you had that problem? The bike customer service said to wipe down the roters which I have done several times but it sounds like it comes from where you grip thsnks for riding in very cold weather for testing!!😁🥶

One real great idea is to have a spare battery if you was to take a long trip one battery can take you out there and the other can bring you back .. now do they have stronger battery ? Or are all the battery are the same ?

I thank you good sir for posting this video, just bought mine and am loving it, sure it's not perfect - a few things to fix along the way but otherwise it's a pretty awesome bike. def recommend if you live 5 or so miles from work and need better transportation then a common no motor bike.

As always a great review. If the Himiway Escape had an adjustable seat I would have ordered this bike. Otherwise it had all the features I was looking for.. So, unfortunately ... still researching.

Great review! And I'm so happy, after looking through probably thousands of bikes, this is only one thing. I don't think I can get it to Sweden.
But at least I know that there are these types of bikes available out there!

Can you tough up the front suspension. Like a mountain bike by dial.

At about 46v the battery seems to cut off, I had to pedal to work one time. Motor would cut off and I would have to pedal using PAS 5 barely getting about 12MPH. That was the voltage it was reading when I used a multimeter to read it, ran for about 3 avenues and the motor barely ran. Cut off when I tried to use throttle so I had to end up using PAS 5.

if you like a moped style bike, this one might be a good choice, but i still think the lectric xp 2.0, with the exception of the mag wheels, is still the winner. and $1700 for no hydraulic brakes seems weird. but you can swap out the breaking mechanism, like you did on the lectric, and get a much better breaking experience.

No key needed to start the bike? Csn anyone start the bike? If so not.good for theft.

Have you reviewed the newer escape pro?

It's a great bike but it took 6 months to get my bike and now it's been 8 months and I'm still waiting for my helmet. Also if your taller than 5 foot, 10 inches the pedals ride high and makes it uncomfortable for peddling.

Like the mag wheels and the step through design.
