This is phenomenal. Can’t wait to get a copy! I love that you included Roger Mertin. His Rochester winter blue images have always left me floored.

I haven’t read the article yet but if I think of Wim Wenders I directly think of Robby Müller. On the most famous Wenders movies like Himmel Uber Berlin or Paris Texas Wenders collaborated with the cinematographer Robby. He was extremely well known for his capabilities to work with natural light, not post edit color casts that are there in analogue films therefore creating the rich colors that they had. But maybe most interesting is the way how Robby Müller played with light in movies in the sense that he deliberately shifted focus by lighting the subject or the whole scene and by doing so he could translate a directors story and making it eloquent in the image. It’s also the silent long steady shots where Robby as he explained himself could perfect the lighting and composition so that you wouldn’t escape from the dream. As many of Wenders movies are road movies there’s also a great quality in the improvisation (which is maybe more a documentary style photographers thing as well) which makes the look of Wenders movies so unconventionally good.

This is amazing! Would love to order this issue. Especially excited about Siri Hustved essay since I admire her novels. But I’m not ready to pay fifty dollars fee for the delivery to Germany 😌

It all looks great, but you had me at John Cage being an inspiration, he was for me as well at an early age, so I had to order a copy!

I saw your interview about this issue on the Aperture Foundation Channel. Like you, I often find myself being somewhere between being awake and asleep and that is when my best ideas come through. Is that why you picked the topic of sleepwalking? Interestingly, this did not happen when I was younger and able to sleep soundly. Maybe not sleeping as well is a blessing in the end.

😃❤ Mr. Soth, aren’t you ashamed of yourself? It’s been 6 months since your last video and we’ve been waiting for a new one quite patiently. And our patience is running out! PLEASE… a new video soon!
