Turkish bachelorette parties involve beautiful dresses, lots of crying and dancing, henna-dyed hands, and many reds! Henna nights before weddings are a ritual that brides have with friends and family.

Henna nights are both fun and melancholic as the bride bids farewell to the home and family she grew up in. The origins of the tradition are unknown but some claim it dates back to the time of ancient nomads. In this video, you will see a traditional and lively henna night. The bride is at the center of the celebration from the beginning to the end as she enters and exits with thundering drums.

In some cases such as this, grooms become a part of the night and they face challenges that they should overcome — like fighting dizziness — During the henna ritual, traditional henna music is played and the bride and groom both get parts in their hands dyed. Afterward, it turns into a never-ending party of dancing until the morning. It’s a delightful celebration of moving on from your previous life into a new one before the wedding.
