After the farmers and few people living in this area were relocated in order to turn this into a secure secret military installation the population continued to swell by the day. Most books say the city grew to 75k overnight. Locals say it was up to 90 thousand. People were living in tents with a tiny oil heater in dead of winter. people were living in sheds. Families had been hungry since 1929 in America. They were desperate to provide for their families. I heard an old man that said 10 people lived in his parents tiny living room and paid rent.
