I've been using a form of Echo Auto for several years My first effort was with an Echo Dot plugged into a power port on my car ... lots of issues (power up time, not knowing where you are, etc.) Next when Anker came out with their ROAV, this became my standard for quite a while. Liked their integrated style (power and microphones as one unit plugged into the car power port) except for needing to talk a bit louder as its microphones needed the extra volume. When Amazon came out with the Echo Auto, I jumped on the list and eventually received one. Microphones were great but there were other issues. Didn't like that I needed to mount the unit separate to the power connection or the technology was a bit lacking compared to the Anker unit. Eventually I gave the Echo Auto unit another go. Some of the negatives were corrected (except for the mounting of the base unit and power supply cable) however I've stuck with it for the microphones. Anker's unit still has some pluses like being able to purchase one with an integrated FM option to pair with your stereo (had an older Tacoma w/o bluetooth). I've driven across country several times in my 4Runner and only use the Echo auto for navigation (with Google Maps) and entertainment. My only complaint is that I can no longer say "Alexa, take me <fill in destination>" where the Map comes up on my phone and sets up my navigation directions. Pretty much can do anything else I need to do with Alexa from my car. That all said, I'm very happy with the device(s) for integrating Alexa with my car.

great vid' Brian, obviously you must have data turned on, does it use alot if just asking questions or directions, i'm sure listening to music makes a difference of more data used?

Where does the other end of the auxillary cable plug into?

What device does the audio decoding when listening to music/internet radio? Two reasons for asking.. 1) if I'm using the auxiliary cable, am I using what I consider to be "low-quality" SBC Bluetooth audio between my phone and the Echo Auto? 2) Am I going to hear all my phone notifications through my car's speaker (not desirable in my case)?

Hi, thanks for your review. I ordered my echo auto last week from US to France by colisexpat (delivery service). I changed the country of devices to US then i uninstall my Alexa app on my phone. After i did a new installation of app and added my echo auto with succes. Logout the app and i changed a country of devices into France. I set up the adress of echo auto in properties of device into my french adress. And my device is working now in french language. It's very fast and it hears good compare to roav Viva. And if i request aj itinerary, it launches it on Google maps on my phone in french. Amazon Music unlimited works as well in french. I'm very satisfied with my echo auto.

Do you get to choose which navigation application handles the request for directions? I use Waze mainly but wondered if the Echo Auto uses Google Maps on Android, Apple Maps on iOS as a default.

I try to attach with aux but the echo won't power on and my device can't find it. The lighter cord works fine though. But I need to attach with aux
