Sean clearly had the strategy to save energy and not use any bit of unnecessary movements that would help Merab use his own endless cardio to its full potential. It just backfired and he never got the chance to connect with a single shot that would end the fight.

He’s not wrong though and also Merab calling timeout in the beginning killed Sean’s momentum coming at him like bat out of hell he had to stop and then restart giving Merab a chance to settle in for a second

Good fighters often end up looking flat when facing a wrestler that has very solid grappling AND striking. Sean took the center immediately in round 1 and quickly learned what he was up against.

Not taking anything away from Merab. Dude is a beast. I also think Sean went into that fight not knowing what to expect from him and with the idea that ALL he had to do was connect with a straight. You should never underestimate someone
