Very interesting. You telling
us to use the emotions to get our expressions up was very good.

7/23 Excellent video fun to do ! you helped this vintage guy formerly 20 years active as an interpreter who loved it, grateful now for the opportunity to just now pick it back up after 15 years away, in order to begin a deaf ministry with others helping as well at my church . I’m so happy to be signing again wish your videos were available in the pre internet / pre iPad days of the 80’s when I first began signing .

I’m a respiratory therapist in the hospital setting. I would LOVE if you had a video dedicated to some medical terms so that I can communicate better with my patients. Examples :respiratory therapist, nebulizer treatment, draw blood, breathe, lungs, heal, therapy, help, medication, patient. I love the way you teach and I think you would be my best bet at helping me with this ☺️

I struggle with facial expressions because I am autistic. I have trouble identifying emotions. I am working hard at it, but I have trouble knowing what facial expression goes with what sign. I can struggle to identify my own emotions sometimes, too. I am a new signer as well, in my first ASL class. I will be signing the Gallaudet and Clerc story for the expressive part of my final exam. Interesting, but challenging task ahead of me.

I speak with a monotone voice and have little to none facial expressions, is it really necessary to learn this for signing or could I sign the same way I speak?

How do you know how to make the right face though? I get eyebrows up, down, or neutral, but I don't know how you make the different mouth shapes, or change where your eyes are looking. I try these in the mirror, and scared and surprised look exactly the same, as do confused and irritated. The only one that looked different was sarcastic, because I had no idea, so made no expression. Is there some kind of facial expression key?

I need a video for ASL students to learn how to reply with NMS. I sign to them how are you or Do you understand me, then some of them look like a robot and emotionless (no expression with their reply).

This is really good, but I look forward to not having to wear masks so we can see each other's facial expressions better!! Thanks for the video & lesson!!
