I, for one, am not going to complain about the uncentered 🌲. My mom was an artist, and we had a beautiful circular black table with whatever the 1960s/70s equivalent of resin and woven rattan The middle was the prettiest part, and people were always moving the circular or spherical art pieces on the table right to that middle spot, covering the nicest part. She would have absolutely loved your work, as do I.

I’d recommend putting some painters tape on the area you plan to engrave. Some woods burn more easily than others and the tape will keep the surface clean and free from scorching without needing to sand it or clean it up much.

I always want one of these 'portable' engravers to mount while piece is still on the lathe - attach the laser head to the tailstock And you always know when it's centered.

I'm sure I'm not the only one to say this, but please tell me you were wearing properly rated laser goggles while you had the shield up. Even just the specular reflections could probably fuck up your eyesight for life.

For a while I was trying to work out why you were engraving 'poo' on the bottom of a bowl meant for your neighbour. Then I realised it was upside down and backwards haha.

I was expecting more to be next to the tree, maybe some mountains or something. I don't mind off-center compositions but there needs to be something to balance out the image and fill out some of the empty space. If there's nothing next to the tree there doesn't seem to be a purpose to it being off-center. Maybe its just my OCD talking. I'm sure your neighbors will appreciate the bowl.
