Volume of a Cone | MathHelp.com

This lesson covers the volume of a cone. Students learn that the formula for the volume of a cylinder is pi times radius squared times height, so the volume of a cylinder that has a radius of 10 feet and a height of 40 feet is pi times 10 squared times 40, or pi times 100 times 40, or 4000 pi cubic feet. And since pi = 3.14, 4000 pi cubic feet can also be written as 4000 times 3.14, or 12,560 cubic feet. Students also learn that the formula for the volume of a sphere is 4/3 times pi times radius cubed, and the formula for the volume of a cone is 1/3 times pi times radius squared times height.

i’ve tried to pay attention to my teacher and different videos but this is the only lady that makes it make sense. for some reason she’s the only person i can pay attention to this year. and she has noooo idea how much she’s helping me pass pre algebra this year so thx for making this video... five years ago.

I literally hate when they put fractions in formulas how are we supposed to incorporate that

Another way to solve this is instead of multiplying 1/3 by the equation, you could just solve the equation the way you usually do; and then divide the whole thing by 3. For example 3.14 * r2 * h = answer divide by 3. This makes sense because a cone is a third of a cylinder. What I mean by this is a the total volume of a cone takes approximately 1/3 of the space a cylinder does. Good luck! and hopefully this will help
