Being able to swap out and replace the analogue sticks is a big improvement to ensure the longevity of the controllers life

The battery lasting longer would be the best thing I can think Sony could do for this controller.
I’m not sure why they didn’t go with 4 paddles although the vast majority of people wouldn’t need 4.
I like that if stick drift occurs they are replaceable.

Replaceable analog sticks is my favorite feature!!

Not having 4 back buttons is a big miss tbh. Once you get used to actually using all 4 you can’t back to 2

Guess i'd just remap L3 and R3 on the back buttons to relieve stress on both analog controls. Hope Sony looks into hall sensor tech to eliminate drift on the analog controls from prolonged use.

Only two back buttons is a bit of a miss. Still looks really nice. Great alternative to SCUF controllers which have been plagued with quality issues.

I would love to see 2 additional back buttons for a total of 4

hyped not just for the hardware but finally being able to make tweaks to your controller in the software. theres still competitive games like rainbow 6 that don't let you change your joystick response curves etc

I really hope it comes in all black. I'm very interested in getting one

Love pro controllers with back buttons. I’ve used the Xbox version 1&2. The first one broke way too quickly but otherwise when it works it’s a great advantage

The controller looks really good but judging from how much better it is from the original dualsense, the price will not be as reasonable. It would have been better if they came out with a back button attachment for the dualsense because it would be cheaper.

Having the 3rd and 4th back buttons would be even better. Just glad they're starting to get with the times and come out with their own pro controller.

I underwent an operation on my hands when I was younger and as such I really struggle with certain games. My index fingers and pinkies are almost a joint shorter and it makes gripping a controller quite uncomfortable. Especially when it comes to the souls series (having to use buttons while using the stick). I’ve purchased 3rd party/elite controllers when possible because it always takes away from the strain. The back buttons on this look slightly too awkwardly placed and there are only 2 at that. I don’t get the issue with just using 4 ergonomically placed buttons…. Xbox have done it, Razer, Scuff and so on. It would be welcomed

So I guess it’s safe to assume at this point that we’re not getting a back button add-on for the DualSense.

My major issue and it's not just with $ony is that back buttons are sooo beneficial that having to purchase a Pro/Scuff/Elite controller should not be a thing. Past the 360/PS3 generation of consoles at a minimum 2 back buttons and programability should have been standard. Especially when you consider these boxes are running X86 architechture and keybinding is a thing.1

Guess it boils down to price with me.. I already have two controllers.. So it's gotta be affordable to swop out one of them for the edge controller

3:15 Disappointed in Sony for not making the controller drift proof by switching to hall effect sensors.

However, depending on the schematics, would this allow Gulikit to make their hall effect sticks compatible with the new PS5 controller, just like what they did with the Steam Deck module?

Having a back paddle buttons are a godsend! I use the Xbox Elite Series 2 a LOT for games like Doom that require you to jump around while keeping both thumbs on the joysticks to move and aim at the same time. Once you're used to it, it's very difficult to go back to moving your right thumb off the joystick to press jump constantly (basically you can't aim and jump at the same time without it). Granted it's half as many buttons as Xbox but the essential one is mapping X (jump) at the very least.

I would do 2 prototype one like this one and one with 4 buttons on bottom! And test them against each other! Then look at the feed back from the controllers!

Dead zone and remapping is and should be OS level functionality that all controllers can make use of.
