Her parents are also divorced, but the parent figure who wasn’t present has a sudden change of heart and wants to win her love back. She’s also from the city and doesn’t understand the ranch way of living. She most likely also met a local boy who wants to win her over but has to fight another local boy for her attention.

Midnight Barbara is such an icon. She makes you laugh, makes you cry, but most of all, she makes you understand what it’s like to be a horse in todays modern world. Such a masterpiece ❤

Don’t forget the part where she is the only girl who can tame midnight Barbra even though she just got to the farm because she was sent there from her family in the city to learn a lesson.

Then she forms a bond with Midnight Barbara and everyone else at the farm is flabbergasted at how well Midnight Barbara takes to Emily (main girl), which is conveyed to us by one of the trainers at the farm trying to train Midnight Barbara. To no avail, though, as he gets bucked off right as Emily walks in and says “Here, let me show you.” Then midnight barbara acts calm and collected after interacting with emily. Fast forward to near the end of the horse girl movie and Emily (alongside her Dad, and the aforementioned trainer) enters a horse race tournament and miraculously wins, as unexpected by the antagonists of the movie, a rich family who will only let Emily and her dad have Midnight barbara if she wins said race. Emily then kisses the trainer on the cheek cuz he’s her love interest for some reason. A little bit after, we finally find out why she’s motherless as her dad comments on how emily’s mother had the same ability to train a hard-to-train beautiful horse, similar to Emily and Midnight Barbara, before she died of cancer.
