My Pet Fox Loves Watermelon!

Gaia and Inali are North American red/silver foxes (Vulpes vulpes). They were not taken from the wild. Never take a wild animal from their habitat. Our foxes are from a long-line of domesticated foxes. It took many generations to acquire their unique colors. We adopted them from rescued fur-farm descendants (ranch-raised foxes). Domesticated (or tame) foxes have genetic differences from their wild counterparts. Many of these foxes have lost their natural instincts and cannot be released into the wild just like you wouldn’t throw your cat or dog outside to fend for themselves. More information about fox domestication is in the links below.

Gaia and Inali are in a loving home living their happy lives with their furry siblings and human parents. Pet foxes show similar traits as dogs and cats but they are more like raising children. Foxes require a ton of time, patience, commitment and resources. If you are serious about wanting a fox, please go into raising a fox as you would a toddler for the next 10+ years. Yes, you will give up vacations and your life will revolve around your fox.

Top 3 things you must know before considering a pet fox: 1) Foxes are not for everyone. 2) Never take a fox from the wild. 3) Do your research and prepare.

Domestic Foxes
Foxes are progressing in domestication but they still have a ways to go. Most domesticated fox lineages are rescues from fur farms. Foxes are not as domesticated yet like a dog or cat that you can leave unsupervised. They need constant supervision when playing around the house. Gaia and Inali have their own room where they play and sleep when we are not home and during the night. They have an outside enclosure but they prefer to be in our home with the family. You see how Gaia and Inali interact with us and are happy living among us and our dogs (not prisoners or deprived of the wild). Gaia and Inali are happy to be free from parasites, ticks and fleas and the diseases they carry. We created this channel so people have information as to what they may be getting into since foxes demand more than cats and dogs. We are responsible adults and knew what we were committing to before we brought Gaia and Inali home. We did extensive research, checked our laws and got permission from our local authorities. We make sure to provide them with the best home, the best food, the best vet care and with so much love as we do our children.
