Introducing the NTG4 and NTG4+ Shotgun Microphones

The NTG4 and NTG4+ are two new directional condenser (shotgun) microphones from RØDE, combining premium performance with features that improve audio fidelity and usability.

The NTG4+ is the first shotgun microphone to feature an inbuilt lithium battery. Providing over 150 hours of operation, the battery can be charged by any USB power source in around two hours using the supplied MicroUSB cable.

Like that the default mode appears to be a little less bright but still has the high frequency boost option. At first I was a little skeptical of the in-built battery but 150 hours and with the 10 year warranty, that's pretty impressive! You guys are innovating nicely.

Yes the mic does live up to expectations and is a breeze to setup and record. Love the idea of including a rechargeable battery and the high boost. Makes it very versatile.

Technologically-speaking filmmaking equipment is in the dark ages. All mics need to have this built in lithium battery. Field audio recorders and monitors need this too. It's ridiculous having to resort to buying dodgy grey market Sony-style batteries to attach to the back of monitors and having to put AA batteries in our recorders. What year is this?

Is the rechargeable Lithium Ion battery easy to replace? Would be better to have given the option to put in a rechargeable AA battery and have that charge in the mic via usb. - for me.

Watching this video for the first time and wondering why they did not use NTG4 for the audio for their video. Could of put this mic on a boom with no problem instead of a lav mic. If its so good why no use their own audio for their own video if they believe in their own product??? #confused

Would not touch this mic with a 10 foot boom pole. After less than a year, mine refuses to hold charge and turns off after 5 seconds despite being charged. DO NOT BUY A MICROPHONE WITH BUILT IN BATTERY.
