I am embarrassed as a black man 66 years old in this country with all that we have been through, that students at a HBCU have to protest, protest, for housing at their school. I have two nieces that have graduated from there. And we tout the professional's that come from those campuses. And we are fighting for healthy housing for students? The administration should be ashamed. But I am so proud that these young people demonstrated in the right way and sacrificed for the good of the future. Tiffany keep us informed on the follow through. I love your show and you giving those kids a platform was a great thing.
God bless.

What a weird silly question about whether these students are going to give back once they’ve matriculated. These students are literally trying to survive the day-to-day.

It is sad that Howard U is receiving donations and federal funding, and yet seems to be providing an intolerable environment for some of its students. If the funds do not exist to provide the right environment for learning, it is the responsibility of the Howard U administration to correct the problem as opposed to passing the problem on to its students. Considering government funding is provided and yet the intolerable conditions in the news clip still existed, I believe a federal investigation is needed to ensure the funds are being used in a way that meets the students needs. Student representation should be a core stakeholder in this investigation.

So much of the problem may lie with government funding. There is always talk about having a level playing field. As a black man with a computer science degree I can tell you from experience that it will be hundreds of years before this idea becomes a reality in the workplace. The one way the government can combat the racism that these students will face when they enter the workplace is to ensure HBCUs like Howard ARE MANAGED PROPERLY and have the funding needed to ensure the basic needs are provided to all of its students. It is my hope that TeamBiden is able to make this a reality before his second term starts.

Why are parents and/or students not reporting this to the health department and suing? Speaking truth to power is very effective coming from the health department to shut them down and multiple law firms to refund their money.

Is the president of Howard a government refugee from an autocratic African nation. He sure seems like one.

Good on them for making a difference and standing up for basic human rights and students' rights to clean, pest free and safe campus accommodation.

Most dorms are dumps. That's why you move out after freshman year.

But when it's blacks against bourgeois blacks it's an issue

Somehow the media will make this a race issue.

Prayers to the students - you deserve decent housing on your campus. Don't give up fighting for your rights. Sue the school if necessary.

I was wondering what happened with this protest.

As an HBCU Howard knows how hard it is to fight for a good education.

A good education includes is suitable living conditions so that can go out and take on the rest of world that has blockades put in place to keep them amongst the lower levels of society no matter how much they are paying for their education✊ HBCU'S MATTER✊

Successful organizational skills are much needed.
In my opinion:
They didn't just protest, they got organized.
Congratulations!
Example for the world!

Horrific living conditions are like what public housing used to be like in Chicago. All I'm hearing from these people are a bunch of buzzwords and empowerment-speak doubletalk. Give us specifics.

I'm sure this is something that needs to be addressed but is it really national news worthy?
