This is a key issue that comes up when answering essay questions and hence an extremely important point that Law Students should remember. Very well analysed and explained. Well done!

Great video! I should go a step beyond in my answers if I wish to stand out from the rest who may be trying to simply fit everything into IRAC method. This is where Shaveen’s method, “Articulate, Balance and Critique” comes in.

(1) Articulation is about framing my answer in such a way that even a layman or a client would understand.

(2) Balancing is about looking at every single possibility in the context of what I have framed. I should gauge the key demerits that a particular argument has, and whether the other party has any defence. I must balance out those interests to impress the examiner that I am not unaware of different possibilities.

(3) Critiquing whichever issue that I have framed, I must consider the problems or defences that are applicable. Finally, I should state my opinion, weighing the pros and cons, and determine the best outcome for my client. Superb! 💖💖💖
