I get 7 day inpatient Ketamine Infusions for intractable pain. I play music non stop, meditation music helps you go into a very deep state during and after the Infusion to get full benefits.

I have never experienced music like I do during my infusion. I hear every note and every word! The music is awesome!

I had 12 ketamine infusions. The music, an extraordinary sensory experience.
When I have a stressful response to something in day to day life, just listening to the playlist catapults me instantly into a peaceful state.🙏❤️⭐️ thank you Dr. Ko! I feel like the music is infused with the rewiring of my brain.

I absolutely think music is one of the keys to a good treatment. Pick music that is soft, calm, meditational driven and you can get lost in. Headphones are a must. I also suggest a darkened, cool room with a blanket, no light. I use a small fan that blows across my face but not in my face.

Current notes :
During “ pre music” stages, setting intention moving into the musical process .
Not everyone has access to the medically supervised process. This YouTube channel has been amazing source of information
Experimentation: two-step musical process . I love what he says with using new music. This serves as a pattern interrupt or new pattern of thinking.

2 steep music process selection use : Music is subjective . Music choice based on feelings of 1 your connection to the divine. 2. Playful music. ( theory of balance)
1. Powerful music, that reminds us : you are close to source and divinely protected by a higher power . helps you feel a deep connection to source in a positive way. music that your highest and best self would choose to represent that connection )

Examples : Viking tribal / gospel/ Indian trance / Sufi, classical music symphony or orchestra

( Currently looking into the idea of binaural beats and low level frequencies tones .
No information to share yet. )

During the process : mental review on the intentions set before the process . Set in a positive way. ( i’m no longer weak vs. The strength currently felt. )

Music selection Steep 2 : gradually switching and transitioning to something playful and fun . curb any potential thoughts of existential dread. Life should be Playful

Examples : ( Deadpool soundtrack/ guardians of the Galaxy)

After effect : we are feeling powerful, connected to our higher power, at the same time, Playful and whimsical, relaxed .

Currently looking into the best time of day for results .

Morning
Mid day
Evening

Morning: pros and cons : it can set a good pattern for the day, however, some people may feel groggy

Midday : pros and cons: peak energy and concentration during the process. focus is best. Cons: it can take a few hours away during the peak production hours .

Evening, pros and cons : powerful intentions before going through your stages of sleep cycle. cons: reinforcing the set intentions coming out of trance is more difficult because you are more likely to fall asleep.

I've had 3 infusions so far and music is an absolute must. I believe the lyrics of the songs I chose to listen to and my thoughts about them while dissociated seeped into how I feel about things now, like power of suggestion but much stronger. Like power of "you can control these thoughts now, not the other way around". Absolutely life changing and a true miracle. I feel like I'm finally back.

Jon Hopkins just put out a phenomenal album for the express use of ketamine therapy, called “music for psychedelic therapy.” It’s AMAZING. All beautiful ambiance with a guided speaking outro.
It was key to my staying 100% fear free despite being in another dimension entirely. Highly recommend for patients and docs looking for an album that was written for this express purpose.

Josh Groban singing is wonderful for Ketamine infusion. But I'm going to now try music without words.

I've listened to Enya during infusion and it seems to drive the trip. I want to try music that's maybe a bit edgier - just to see how it differs, but afraid to do so. Enya inspired trips are so transcendental & lovely. I can't imagine infusion without music.

Listening to the same music while my infusion when going to bed helps my mind rest. I listen to the same playlist but shuffle each night. I’ve had great success with this for 4 years since having 10 infusion treatments started in 2019.

Give this one a try: “Azure”, by Greg Haines. (Preferably with good headphones). I have a curated personal playlist, perfected over many, many infusions, and this song is at the center of it.

Music definitely makes a difference. I stick with classical myself.

I've been sending myself YouTube links to crystal singing bowl music baths.
Before being told to find music for my upcoming infusions ... I was already searching. I felt I was going to need it! ... along with Bluetooth wireless earbuds and something soft to hold. This just made sense to me.
I'm glad I've been preparing because the last thing I need to happen is to have a (NON-epileptic) anxiety seizure during my first infusion. I reaching for tools to help battle the fear some people report.
After over 30 years in this prison of depression, anxiety seizures, military PTSD with MST (military sexual trauma), chronic pain, chronic suicidal ideation, debilitating agoraphobia, etc.
Nothing has worked. Not any of the dozen or so antidepressants over the years. Years of talk therapy. Multiple hospital stays. Self medicating with weed and alcohol (I have a 1 drink limit lol).
Weed is the only illegal substance (in my bass-ackwards state) I've ever done. It helps in the moment. Then I wake up in the morning pissed I'm still alive. Another day of pain and suffering. Isolation.
My sister, a hospital nurse for over 30 years, told me that if a person is in excruciating pain every moment of every day ... they will go insane in 2 - 3 years. Is this where I'm at I often wonder.
After decades of soul crushing dissappointments ... it's hard to find hope in trying even one more avenue of treatment.
Should I take my Klonopin before my 1st treatment?
I'm trying to set myself up for success and a good experience while under ketamine.
I've read people saying they felt the urge to pee during infusions. Is this a side effect with most people? I'm not too proud to wear an adult diaper!
I really don't know what to expect and want to mitigate issues before they arise. Any pointers are welcome.
I'll keep watching videos!
Thank you 💜;💜

Day 1 I watched YouTube videos and I felt weird but thought it was ok but wasn’t sold on it. Day 2 the nurse really encouraged me to listen to music and oh em gee. Entirely different experience. I got to process so many things and I ended the treatment with a new mantra “who cares”? As in who cares about the mistakes I’ve made and the things that cause me anxiety. Who cares just let go. Today was day 3 and I again just let go and I didn’t want it to end. I was working through so many things. I think it’s a travesty that music isn’t the standard protocol

Having music you've never heard before would be important for me. If I've heard it, I would likely focus on it rather than the experience.

Breakbeat jungle dnb music is a great option. In my experience ketamine effect ties perfectly with fast rythims and varied sound oscillations

Music creates the experience. I generally don't like classical music for entertainment, but during ketamine classical music or binaural beats are the only way to go!

For me, the type of music can fundamentally effect your infusion experience.

Every body has a tone that will work well. It might be very difficult to find the cream of the crop. Ambiance Healing tones works best for me. Some healing has taken place in my lower back from a ketamine session while chanting a healing frequency I found on YouTube.
