I want to share a little bit of advice I heard from Eddie Van Halen from the band Van Halen. "When you make a mistake, make it twice so that people think you did it on purpose." Great video!

Gosh! this is so true, it's not the end of the world when we make mistakes when playing, we don't have to be perfect. I agree, when I go to a concert I don't remember any mistakes, I enjoy the experience. Thank you for sharing this painful experience and it makes me realise, life goes on, it's OK.

This was a powerful and beautiful message Carrie! It is not how you fall down but how you get back up that counts! You are now an incredible Harpist and are inspiring others ❤❤

Thank you! What a helpful and healthy way to look at performance mistakes. I needed this. I think I’ll share it with my musical kiddos as well. This message could prevent a lot of distress if we lead off with this mindset from the get go.

You soldiered on! Hooray! If you had walked off in tears we probably would not have you as instructor/coach on LTH.

Thank you for sharing your experience. As an amateur singer, I've been disappointed in my singing skills and musical talents many times. Now, your story has deeply encouraged me!

I have all these “leave it under the chair” feelings for my primary instruments, but I still freeze on harp. Really like this message.

Thank you for sharing your learning experience! To be honest, I would have loved to see your performance. I'm sure your mistake really wasn't that bad, and that it was followed by a beautiful recital.

By the way, a friend of mine recently got married. He began the ceremony with a flute piece that he, as a non-musician, learned spontaneously. It wasn't very good, but I'm still impressed by his courage to show up and keep playing! I think the same applies to you and everyone else who dares to take a similar step.

Have you seen the video that talks about 10% wrong answers on a test and 10% wrong notes in Billie Jean? Really showed the stress we musicians put on ourselves.
