Unboxing Thomas Nelson's Sovereign Collection Revised Standard Version (RSV) Personal Size Bible with thumb index (ISBN 9781400337965, Style 7796BK). The cover is black genuine leather.

This is a 66 book (Protestant) Bible.

The Bible is printed in the Zondervan NRSV Typeface, an attractive 9.5 point font. Text is presented in a two-column format, except in poetic books, where a one-column format is used. References and text and translation notes appear at page bottom.

The words of Christ are in black ink. In the copy reviewed, the print is not uniformly dark throughout the volume. For instance, it is much darker in Job than in Romans.

Paper is reasonably opaque and matte (non-reflective, so sheen isn't a problem).

Six color maps are included. There is no concordance, but a topic index is provided.

The Bible is 8.94 x 5.88 x 1.56 inches (8 15/16 x 5 7/8 x 1 9/16 inches) in dimensions.

There are two ribbons, one red, one black. They are 10 mm (about 3/8 of an inch) wide.

I find your reviews very valuable. I feel God pulling me to Him and learning, and unexpectedly of the Orthodox Church. My wife and I grew up knowing nothing about orthodoxy in baptist/evangelical/non denominational churches. Pray for us. We had turned away from Christianity, and my wife is still against it, while my heart is softened. She went through some traumatic experiences in the protestant church and her abusive ex husband who used his views of Christianity and conspiracy theories against her. I have an NIV Bible, trying to see what other versions I should also get. I have a desire in my heart to be a scholar and would love to learn more about the different translations and apparently different versions of books? I also hear being a scholar doesn't pay the bills and I have a family to feed though.

Thank you so much Mr. Jones I found you channel about a week ago when I had interest in the ASV and the RV versions of the Bible. Well I really enjoy your content and just wanted to encourage you. I like you self cannot just have one or five Bibles, I truly enjoy your insight and advise. Thank you for your contributions. I was able to find a RV version Bible after looking at the front page in one you had and saved myself lost of money, It was only ten dollars on ebay. Keep up the quality reviews. Welcome back. I have an older RSV. Although it’s a smaller Bible, the print of that era is very readable. I’ll have to check it when I get home, but I think it may be the first revision from the original printing. This is a nice looking Bible. ✌️

I preordered the black leather like cover edition, looking forward to using it! Really love the RSV translation these days. My go to use to be the NASB 95 and then for a year or more the LSB, but the last year or so has been the NRSV, ESV, RSV and even recently started to appreciate greatly the NLT and GNT as well. Interesting to read Scripture in those less literal versions

While I am not an RSV fan, I always enjoy your videos. The Thomas Nelson Sovereign collection are well built Bibles, but they always seem to have glue issues with their ribbons. I have changed many ribbons over the years, but TNel were the ones I had most trouble with. Thanks again for the video Grant.
