The Tonight Show host, Jimmy Fallon, injured his finger in 2015 when his wedding ring caught on a countertop, forcing him to take a two-week break from his show. Fallon had to go through an emergency six-hour surgery to save his finger.
Traditional metal rings can be dangerous, especially if they get caught on something. This can cause a nasty injury called ring avulsion, where the ring pulls on your finger so hard it can cause severe damage or even amputation. Over 150,000 people experience this each year.
Inspired by a similar incident during a rock-climbing trip, friends Brighton Jones and Aaron Dalley decided to create a safer alternative. They came up with Enso Rings, made from silicone. These rings are colorful, comfortable, and designed to break apart under pressure, preventing injuries.
In October 2017, Brighton and Aaron took their idea to "Shark Tank." Robert Herjavec offered them $500,000 for 20% of the company, which they negotiated down to 15%.
Although the deal with Robert didn't go through, their appearance on the show was a huge success. They quickly started processing 500 orders a day, making $2 million in sales within weeks. By 2019, they had sold over 2 million rings.
Today, Enso Rings is a booming business, earning $16 million annually.
