I feel bad for Henry Rathbone (the guy that was with Lincoln at the theatre). There really was nothing he could have done and it wasn't his job anyway. Lincoln had a guard, he had just left for a few minutes. Rathbone did try to stop J.W.B. from escaping and Booth stabbed him. It makes me wonder if people blamed him for what happened.

What makes his dream creepy was that it would be a foreshadowing of his demise. When asked who is dead in the White House, the officer had replied, the President. He was shot by an assassin, but prior to this dream, it was reported that Lincoln had seen his doppelgänger signifying pending doom. This gives it a paranormal twist to his untimely death.
