Baby Seal Gets Rescued From Fishing Line Entanglement

We do not like the moment when a whole group of seals gets scared during our rescue patrol and runs into the water for safety. It is stressful and we try to work at different spots each time to give each group a break for a few days. There is no other solution. Even if we approach them slower or take hours to crawl towards them, there is always a moment when we have to capture the seal, and the others will start to panic. To minimize our impact, we use the movement of the seals to scan for more entangled animals, hoping we can turn one into multiple rescues. Today is a good day - the rescuers found and saved a second entangled animal in the crowd! 🦭

Those small pups are so sweet. They're curious and naive, and after you remove the entanglements and release them (after the soothing gentle rubs you give them) their curiosity rises to the surface. I love it when they linger like that and look you all over, noting that you're maybe not something to fear after all. Sadly, all humans aren't so trustworthy. It was those two's lucky day!

The 1st pup wanted a lift back to the ocean in the kayak lol. How fast was the 'flash' 🌠, catching the 2nd pup amidst dragging the kayak in!!! Really was all happening there. Both bubs freed unharmed and the 2nd bub hung around SO relaxed 😊 what a thrill that must be. Well done team WAND 👊👊👊👊
