This has been, hands down, my favourite song for the past 50 years. And this rendition is as pure as it gets...

Oh, this takes me back 52 years when I had it on my little cassette player. I should get stoned so that I can really go back in time.

I was 10 and my step dad sang it every night. I'm 60 now and care for him. He has so many guitars but can't play due to paralysis ❤

I just love the rawness, authenticity, the guy can hit a bad chord and makes it feel like he meant to..

I AM the cowgirl in the sand. What a great song to have playing during the shift from girl to womanhood. I relished the hell out of it 50 years ago!!!

Always listened to this song when i was old enough to skip classes. I had two blankets in my car. In the morning i drove to school, my best friend joined, we rolled down the seats, turned on neil young, covered ourselves in blankets and slept until school was over. Miss that time! No responsibilities, just freedom <3

As a young teenager, when I couldn't tell anybody what was in my heart, Neil's songs meant so much. He said it, even when I couldn't.

I was a young teenage girl growing up in a small town USA . There wasn't one girl in my class that didn't love Neil Young . The girls had huge crushes and the boys were jealous because they couldn't get the girls . They dreamed and mooned over Neil as much as Elvis . His music was about love, broken hearts, crying and moving on . He had magic guitar hands . We loved you then and we love you now Mr Neil 🥰

I knew a Cowgirl In The Sand: “She, was” old enough to change her name; when so many love you is it the same; and it’s the woman in that makes you play this game. Turned me upside down & inside out.

I remember a day during my senior year of high school. Billy Piazza and Rick Krukowski and I were hanging out in someone's car in the parking lot. Billy had his beautiful Martin guitar and started playing and singing this song. I was transfixed. I've loved this song ever since and I can't hear it without going back to that parking lot in 1973.

I wanted to learn how to play this song as soon as I heard it. In 1972 I had it figured out. I was 16 and didn’t have a very good guitar. I still play this song but now on really great guitars. Haaa 53 years later. Thanks for this song and so many others you wrote that I had to learn to play and memorize the words to.
