Great demo. I started making jewelry about 30 years ago or so, and we did not have crimp beads. We used the clamshell bead tips, tied a couple of knots in our beading thread and fed them into the bead tips and close the bead tips up. To this day I still use this technique, and even have some of my first pieces that I made this way that I still wear.

I love it that you tell us the sizes of the beads and crimp tubes. I can just call and order them!

I love this video because it fills my need for an occasional refresher on finishing jewelry. Just a reminder on the basics. Like reading the card on a plane while the attendant tells you about belts, exits, bathrooms, etc.

Hi Carol. I just found your channel and subscribed. I love your comment about teaching people the "right" way to crimp. My philosophy is there is a theoretical way and a practical way. Theoretically, the "right" way to crimp is to crush twice. Practically, a single crush can secure the wire. If the end result is the same, then practically is as good as theoretically. Striving for perfection is a sure-fire way to take the joy out of a beginner's creative process. I think an experienced crafter will develop their own practical methods that work for them. And, hahahahah, on the crimp covers. I struggle with these lil forkers as well. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Thanks for such an informative and excellent tutorial, Carol. I haven't heard of the Bead Bandit before and also like the way you use a bead to cover the crimps. I always enjoy your videos and often learn something new from you even though I have been making jewelry for decades. You are such a joy to watch and listen to. ❤
