How to read a Floppy disk

If you have old floppy disk laying around, you can actually read them and transfer the files off of them with a simple USB disk reader.

You can use this diskette reader to read floppy disks on Mac or PC.

Doesn't work with disks created on Windows 95 or Windows 98, I can only read disks from XP onwards. Seems to be a file system problem. The old MS-Dos formats cannot be read

Hey there, were you able to access whatever was on rhe disk or did you have to reformatt n did you lose what was on the disk. Mines ask me to format but I dont want to lose my information. Can you enlighten me .thx

I ordered two of these and ended up returning both. Amazon spec said they were Windows 10 compatible. The user manuals with the readers said they were only compatible with turn-of-the-century Windows versions. They would not work on the plug and Play basis offered. Can you tell me which version of Windows you were using? Also your link goes to a page of multiple readers. Can you change the link to go to the specific reader that you had success with. I went to the product on Amazon using your link, but it does not say that it is compatible with Mac computers. Someone asked a product question and another person answered that it is not compatible with Mac. Do you know of one that IS?

Hello there. I bought such a piece of kit. It does connect to my Windows 8.1 and show all the files. But....when I click on them the data it brings up is punctuated by what I can only describe as a load of hydroclifcs. Is there anyway I can rectify this, so the files are more readable

How do I transfer photos from Kodak picture disc, Floppt Shots or Konica Picture show on MacBook. They say cannot open without app and they are too old to have app.

Have the same one. It reads the disk but won't copy it to my PC or it won't open the file. Seems to work smoothly with that Apple there.

I had purchased a reader from Amazon about a year ago, and though the Device Manager lists can't find how to access it. It doesn't automatically come up. Please Help! Thanks!

I bought this same drive from Amazon, but was unable to get it to bring up an accessible directory. First disk produced a directory listing, but when I tried to access any of the files listed, I received a "drive inaccessible" error from Windows 10. The next disk swapped in would not bring up a directory at all, and so on with any more disks...tried about 20 before I gave up. Apparently there is some issue using Floppy drives and Windows 10, but there was little I found on Microsoft's forums that changed my results. Any ideas on your end? Were you running Windows 10 on the PC you used this drive on? The box/instruction manual says that it is supposed to come with a drivers CD but none was enclosed and there is no manufacturers website to go to to grab any drivers.

Question for ya. I have a USB floppy reader and it reads my old disks no problem on my Mac Mini (Catalina). Besides deleting the files off them, is there any way to format the disk properly? Just want to be safe before tossing these disks. Thanks.
