I give my SURRON Light Bee-X a power up with a High DISCHARGE CHI BATTERY SYSTEMS 72V GLADIATOR TOURING 45AH battery. I go through the whole install of the cabling, the battery tray, and installing this GLADIATOR power monster before finally taking the SURRON out for a RIP at WHEELIE hill.

As you were sliding the battery in the bike I thought "I wonder if he's going to edit in an explosion when he plugs it in", you didn't disappoint.

6:40 if the battery has a smart BMS, which most likely the CHI battery will have especially at that power level, you can turn off the output of the battery from the BMS app. CHI has used Daly BMS in the past but the newer batteries might also have an ANT or JK BMS, i'm not 100% sure but you can ask them to give you the app. That way you don't need a breaker and you can simply turn off the battery when you will work on the bike or before plugging/unplugging it from the bike. I've done this on my 12kw Qulbix battery for the past 3 years and never had an issue or the need of installing a breaker

6:24 This is a valid concern and glad to see you went this route. Also will help in some information involving breakers and ebikes because 250a is way overkill. Which not your fault.
I'll explain at the end why there isn't much information involving this either.
So the measurement of electrical runaway in breakers can have multiple designs. But most basic 1Ps like this are 80%-100%. So continuous it will handle the rated or just below the rated for long periods of time. However, it will handle above that threshold for some time before tripping as well. Which also depends on the manufacturer. So you could work these times out yourself, but just off common times. 1.5 times the rated amps is in the realm of 5-60 seconds. This amperage increases in relativity to time decreasing. Instantaneous trips require around 3-5 times the rated amps. So where there's not much information on ebike use. You need the information for the manufacturer time for tripping, 80 or 100 rule. How long your bike will pull those amps because you are only pulling peak discharge from the battery at high acceleration for short bursts. Then after that it depends on motor efficiency and controller efficiency on what your continuous amps would be. So, going into why this 250amps for a 500amp peak discharge would be overkill. This breaker could possibly not trip for at the least a half second to at the most 30 seconds if the BMS fails and the battery tries to discharge say 750amps. Which at 5 seconds thermal runaway is happening. So it's hard to judge without trial and error and some math. What the perfect breaker would be for your setup. BUT, you definitely don't want to go overboard. Because essentially the breaker doesn't exist as a breaker and is just a switch at that point.

I am not huge into electric bikes but you make them interesting. Your videos on them are the only ones I watch. I think part of that has to do with the fact I like you as a person and such. :)

Love the ebike content. I hope the prices on these things comes down a lot in the next few years. They are a bit out my price range right now, but holy shit I want one.

Definitely stick with Torp or Ebmx for a controller and or motor. Torps got the new tm40 peaking at 42kw, ebmx is lacking right now with their motor "only" maxing out at 35kw but they have a new version of it coming soon that will match that 42kw figure from torp

Hey man nice video! I just ordered a chi battery last week and i ordered it with qs10 6awg do you think it would fit with an upgraded breaker or do you think with the added cable thickness it would just need to be deleted?

I've been working on this calculator and under normal use (stock cable + stock breaker) you would be losing about "180.00 W in Fuse Power Loss". and I didn't know the guy that overclocks graphics card likes surrons that "180.00 W in Fuse Power Loss" is important lol I'm working on this crazy calculator and I'd actually like to hear what you have to say about it, like is it good can I make it batter and how? I actually checked this video out for fuse advice and your video brought me one step closer to completing the resistance between battery > wire > fuse. Mainly how many options are out there for advice on if the user should upgrade or if they are at risk of fire and so on because my main concern is safety then casing bottleneck and seeing how crazy you can get with your mods.
