Glasurit 55 line & 255 HS Clear Application Guide

This Job here is the first ever video footage of The Gunman Spray Painting, It was recorded on my Apprentices Smart Phone in 2011 in the Prestige Auto Smash shop I worked at, in Hawthorn Melbourne.
Video Quality is poor because of the technology of the day but I decided to edit it as a 2nd anniversary special.
The Car I am painting is a Volkswagen GTI Golf in Black Pearl Paint Code T2.
I will be using Glasurit 55 Line basecoat (Solvent) and 255 HS Clear, my personal favorite clear.
I am using a DeVilbiss GTI Pro Spray Gun with a 1.3mm fluid tip and the HVLP Setup H1 Air cap.
I look back on these days as the highest quality my work has ever been due to a good booth and best products, also working on only the best cars where sub standard work is simply not acceptable.
At this point I am having some time off in Thailand and it's been great to be able to spend some of my spare time on making videos like this but in saying that I feel like I am ready to go back to another shop like this and take my painting back top the top class work like you see me doing in this video.

2 years ago today (6th Feburary 2016) I uploaded the first video as The Gunman.
If you had have told me 2 years ago that I would have over 25,000 Subscribers on YouTube and near 5,000,000 views I would have laughed. The following I have gained in such a short time is amazing and I really have gained a lot of respect in the trade.
I think a big part of my success is the no bullshit approach I take not just to painting but the way I make my videos, I tell it like it is and if that offends a few then I am sorry but I am just saying my opinion.
Honesty isn't the only reason for my success, a mix of RAW talent and massive dedication has bought this channel to where it is today.
This is just the beginning and I believe the best is yet to come so be sure to stick around.
As always don't forget to "Get out there and Paint some shit!!"

Hey Gunny..
Enjoy your channel man.. talking HVLP guns, LP refers to Air Cap Pressure (not inlet pressure). Pressure drops at the air cap due to the larger holes, thus using more air volume.
Just FYI.
Keep up the good work buddy.

Absolutely agree with the comment that your environment and product makes a difference with your end result, I think being in a good environment and not using a shit product tends to make me more motivated to do the work aswel. I'm much more keen to really get it right if Im in a clean booth using glas or ppg than I am in a shed with concept..

Gunna that's the type of place i want to work at. using a full system, we use PPG Envirobase with Debeer Spalac HS Clear or AutoThane HS ??? it's just backwards to me. A place were panel beaters do jobs correctly finish in 180G, Don't leave pin holes everywhere and DA finish their jobs expecting me to block them out a place were the boss understands painting and not just bought into the business, A full downdraft booth, this is starting to sound like my wish list! Anyway Happy 2nd Anniversary Gunman keep up the good work your videos are making a difference around the world be proud of your achievement YO!

PS when ya get back and have time make a video on different brands of clear coat and your views
Could be a bit hard as shops don't always have 7 different brands of clear laying around but if you find a way, I think that would make a interesting video.

Wow an actual grated floor with suction, nice clean booth there. Maybe someday try the PPG KC 2020 Ultra Flow, it's good stuff and no thinning required. Recently finished off my Chevelle using the GPI and it turned out really good.

Hi Gunman, I am painting my subaru in a few days using Glasurit 255 HS clear with a GTI pro lite with te20 air cap. It is usually 26-30 deg celcius in the booth. I would very much like to know how much reducer you use with the 255 clear... 30% medium reducer? 10% slow? On the technical data sheet it says 10%, although our paint rep recommends 30%. Very much appreciate your reply, and great job =)

Hi, one question. I am planing to paint the firings of my bike with these products, The thing is that after the basecoat I need to put the decals and then the clearcoat. Can be done?, I ask because many says that the clearcoat must be aplied with the basecoat still wet, Thnks.
