The moment the news came in about the speed record which the BGKT's WDP-4 set on the Indian Railways network..by clocking 180 km/hr speed during the Mathura-Palwal trials. I was happy and dejected at the same time.. The breaking of the 160 km/hr barrier was something worth cheering, but still i was dejected as i had missed capturing this historic run through my lens.
Then came the news of another Renfe Talgo Trials which were stated to happen at 180 km/hr this time with loaded coaches. Now i had set my sight on these trials and i made sure..whatever happens..i won't miss out on these trials....!!
The moment finally arrived on the 21st July, when i finally got the chance to witness the 180 km/hr speed show by the BGKT's hunk WDP-4#20089. Even the Ministry of Railways had officially announced about the 180 run which ensured us that we didn't left empty handed.
What transpired during the 180 km/hr trials day can be seen in the video clip's narration..

Nice one Anirudh!! Rail fanning is an art that requires patience and perseverance. Also, you get to witness the action only for a couple of seconds. You did a great job (or who so ever who shot the videos). Thanks for making it available to us.

Speed was never an issue even with Indian made engines, do we have sustainable straight track to handle over longer needs to be addressed.

fantastic coverage. kudos to the group working behind this effort. Coming to Talgo, our engines are capable enough. adding more light made material in manufacturing coaches would further do charms. Thanks a lot for the wonderful video.

You can run a 180/km train only on a rail track which can support that speed, how many of those do we have? That's the question. It is time to upgrade the entire Indian rail network to that speed, as a first step.

Nice good capture. What India is considering are ONLY TALGO coaches and not the compete train sets. I was in SPAIN recently and traveled on their AVE High Speed Trains. They use Talgo, Siemens ( German ) and TGV ( French ) train sets. Have a look at my Video " Madrid to Barcelona 630 KM in 2.50 Hrs, Average Speed 265 KM per hour", Peak Speed 310 Km. Spain RENFE would celebrate the 25th Anniversary of High Speed Rail this month. We are 25 Years behind!!.
