The Constitution of Liberty (1960) by Friedrich Hayek is a classic of economic philosophy. As one of the seminal texts of modern liberalism, it reminds us of the values of individual freedom, limited government, and universal principles of law. First published in the 1960s, it contends that social progress depends on the free market rather than on socialist planning. This work remains relevant in an age where socialist ideas are gaining new popularity.

I may not agree with everything Hayek believes in, especially on the amount of government intervention in the economy, but it is still important to reflect on what Classical Liberals like him say and write, as they are probably the most fierce defenders of liberty.

This video is must. The topic very important. Covid-19, is bringing to light the decline of our freedom. We need to work to restore what is being lost.

In Hayek's Constitution of Liberty 🗽 the very first thing he talks about in chapter 1 is coercion and restraint. How would he feel about mental health services being used for social control by central government under the guise of medicine to fool people?

So, people are not conditioned by society and economics?

I can't help thinking that this is a nice _idea_ but in practice it's no more useful than Marx - which is dreadful. In reality, private companies like Blackstone monopolise housing & rent, which is just as bad as having a government do it. In reality, USA insurance companies drive up healthcare costs leaving ordinary individuals underinsured or unable to afford care. In reality, where is my trickle-down wealth? 🤬 I don't think the answer to these problems is more Hayeck.

I could dismantle this argument in less than thirty minutes. What I find interesting is many people who believe in neoliberalism are usually from the privilege of private inheritance, then tell everyone how they are responsible for all their successes and positions. It is a mentality that convinces itself that they have an inherent superiority of entitlement and that people with less privilege are somehow not responsible and dependent. A ridiculous ideology, like a bunch of bloated fish who are ignorant of the water they are swimming in, allowing them to swim and bloat. They live in an arrogant fantasy about who they are. Look at Thatcher, privately and economically dependent all her life and lived off a PR about her economic responsibility.
