I don’t think the exhaustion is why they can’t do more than one mission a week. Pure oxygen can actually cause a thing called oxygen poisoning, the one mission a week is probably a precaution to lower this from possibly occurring

Since these planes are expensive and he didn’t have enough money to buy one he opted for a galvanised square steel frame for the wings and frame. He got screws borrowed from his aunt so he can assemble it and got titanium sheets to cover the plane. He got freshly made glass for the canopy windows and an old office computer for his navigational system and got an old jet engine to fly. He went to the junkyard so he can get old wheels from a car. Finally he got a suit fitted for over 70000 feet made from his grandma to fit him.”

Yes, the U-2 has at least one unique ability. It is more agile than a satellite...it can linger in a specific area at a specific time.

I used to hang out with the pilots in Al Dhafra Air Base. Got to ride in their catch vehicles for when they land. They were using GTOs at the time.

My grandfather helped develop the U-2 he is 87 now and still very proud of it

Id give anything to take a trip in one of those. Watching James May take a trip for TopGear in this was one of their most inspirational episodes ever

I used to know one of these pilots, from the Francis Gary Powers era of U2 flights. He kept an eye on Soviet submarine activity in the East. Fascinating stories.
