This is completely true. It comes from the anxiety that I'll miss important details on the smaller screen.

I am 34 and recently bought a house with my partner. We needed to transfer half of the money and we indeed wanted to do that on our computer. But behold..!! The computer told us to USE OUR PHONE TO DO IT!

Yes, we transferred more then 100.000 euros through our phone and it felt wrong on so many levels!!

The computer chair is where I sit when I make the big decisions. Hence the computer is where I go for big purchases, as that’s where the computer chair lives.

Totally.
Mostly because a Computer-Level Purchase needs multiple tabs and some way to track and compare costs.
Notepad. Excel. Paper and pen.
Cellphones don't have the real estate for these kinds of purchases.

For me its not about the big screen, mobile apps feel untrustworthy for big purchases and websites on computer seem more stable

I've never felt more called out than watching this video. I absolutely do this. I couldn't tell you where the line between mobile purchase and "big" purchase is, but it's there. 100%.

As someone from gen z, buying expensive stuff on my phone is sacrilegious. What if I misclick? I dont trust my touchscreen as far as I can throw it. What if I need to read fine print? My phone screen is cracked, from the aforementioned throwing. Only answer, is to go to the PC.

At a bank I worked at, the app got 50x more transactions than the web site, but only 10% of the revenue.
There's a cut-off that people feel safe using an app and beyond that they'll use a pc.

For me it's more that when doing a large purchase I like to research it first. I'll look for external reviews, try other stores, look for coupons, etc... That's just so much more convenient to do in a browser with tabs.

... I feel called out. For me, it's the action of clicking the mouse to confirm rather than just tapping my phone. The mouse click to me shows more commitment and I feel like I'll have less regret afterwards.

I often compare prices/similar products to the one I want to buy and it’s easier for me to do on the PC with my mouse and bunch of tabs open. I understand.

I just trust that I will make less mistakes on my desktop than I do on my phone. Case in point, i made constant typos in this comment because i am on my phone with its useless touch screen keyboard, which I swear works worse than they did 5-10 years ago.

I worked in a bank for years. Contactless was one of the best things to happen to businesses for their income and for banks to make overdraft and credit card fees. Mobile payments only increased this. When contactless came in, income almost doubled for places like coffee shops.
They removed all thought and feeling behind payments and it's now so easy that people have become careless with all their spending.
There is a reason there is a push behind moving away from cash entirely. It's very profitable and very traceable.

The only thing I buy on my phone is food delivery. Everything else is a PC-level purchase.

This is so accurate, every important errand gets finished on my PC even if I started it on my phone - I will restart from the beginning on the Real Internet™ 😭

As a 30 year old, the moment a purchase goes beyond $20-30 (fast food app, Amazon, etc) I need to sit down and make sure it’s being done right. That’s just how I was taught. Probably because when I was becoming an adult a lot of websites weren’t mobile friendly and it just wasn’t something you could reliably use on your iPhone or Android.

I also only send important emails from my computer—never my phone.

I was literally sitting there thinking "well, of course, if it's going to be a big purchase it needs to be made on a big screen, it only makes sense - if it was a small purchase a small screen would suffice" and then Josh said basically the exact same thinf.

100%, you feel that when you buy sth expensive you can fuck it up somehow on a phone.

I never thought about, but now that I think about it, it's 100% true. I'm a millenial.
When I'm buying an expensive item I need to be completely certain beyond any doubt that I'm buying the right thing. I need to confirm everything about every aspect of this purchase. On a PC it's just easier to swith tabs, bring up a calculator, look at photos and so on.
