Links in description aren't working on smartphones, they work on desktop (all hail desktops / Galvatron).

Oh wonderful! I bought this CPU and random X99 board, but haven't had a chance to try it. Excellent coverage.

I'm a high setting gamer as long as I get 100+ fps so I can make use of my 144 hz monitor. But I'm happy to drop settings to keep the fps high.

The x99 platform aged very well, I'm still using my i7 5960x 4 years later and it handles every game I throw at it with ease. Despite that, It's a risky investment getting this platform now unless you're able to find a motherboard with good vrm's & overclocking features that isn't too expensive, as overclocking Haswell-E & Broadwell-E is pretty much a requirement to get the most out of them especially now that modern games are benefiting from more threads and faster cores. They also have a high tdp and run hot when pushed, so a good dual or triple rad CLC or air cooler such as the Corsair hydro series or Noctua NH-D15 are excellent options to start with.

Wrote a tweet to you about this some time ago, don't know if you saw it but thanks for the video either way! You definitely got the west hooked on x58 xeons back in the day haha :)

Great video man. Honestly if you have a tight budget, you must go with something like this. I'm super impressed with this chip/board combo. Thanks man!

With <$100 Ryzen 2600's and 1600AF's, I thought the AliExpress xeon build was dead, but it looks like 22nm is back on the menu!
This calls for some YES cartwheels.

Wow so you could get the 12 core, 64 gb of ram, a cheap nvme drive, a couple used Vega 56, and some mass storage and have yourself a super powerful workstation for around 1000 bucks.

High settings gamer for sure! Would love to see the difference b/w this chip with all the security flaw patches and microcode updates enabled vs Ryzen r5 1600 AF with a cheap B450 mobo... I don't trust these intel chips and these mystery Chinese mobos, feel like AMD is still the better option, but I'd love to see the Yes Man put it to the test!

I run a Ryzen 5 3600 as my main, but I've been looking at V3 E5's for a while as a server build in order to run some game servers and do video processing.

There are a lot of decent X99 boards coming out of China. The T8 and TF for example.

HOWEVER, because price/performance is so good, it's a little depressing that there isn't much variety in the dual socket category. Especially with dual X79 boards all over the place.

There are like 3 or 4 that I see (well 1 or 2 as a couple of them are the same oem board with different branding.)

The Jingsha for instance... Nice board but ONE 16X slot? And it's shared with the M.2?

I know we're just getting into X99 territory, so I hope to see more capable dual sockets come along especially when the higher end V3's come down in price, AND we still have a whole line of V4's that may be within reach in a few years. Wouldn't a 22/44 4669v4 for under $100 be nice? ;-)

My favorite! Old AliExpress Xeon builds!! I'm constantly browsing through the Xeons and the bundle builds.

Seeing as I’m running X99 with a 5820K I think this will be viable for me!

Looking at Ali Express, it's still a tough sell against ryzen for the price considering the performance and platform. The single core performance is still pretty ordinary.
