Why your PS5 won't update system software & how to fix it!.. If your Playstation 5 stopped updating software or has error when system software is performing the update, this is what to do! Fist, I recommend updating your PS5 using a LAN cable ethernet connection. Doing this can help with problems downloading Playstation software updates. Next you can try forcing the PS5 to perform the system update in the settings menu. If that doesn't work, you can use the Safe Mode feature on Playstation 5 and update the software with Internet connection or USB. Doing this should fix the problem if your PS5 won't update.

I bought my PS5 beginning of the year and I gave my PlayStation 4 to my son. my 5 was working perfectly fine until I re-signed into my PlayStation 4 and ever since then in April it has not been updating and I finally came across this video today and it worked . thank you so much.

Good that you made this video. I had a couple times a slight glitch. So when I checked it didn't update. I looked at the version number then went into safe mode and sure enough it allowed an update there. Seems still some people think the rest mode problem is around and it shouldn't be

You missed most probably the biggest issue if your PS5 isn't updating. The SSD is full. Check your storage, if full, delete some old media/videos/pictures that you might have captured during gameplay. I would say if you can clear 20GB of data, then you should be clear. I suppose 10GB would also do. Freeing up only 2GB of data might not be enough. I actually had a game patch complain that there wasn't enough space to install the update. I can see the same being for the OS. On the PS5, SSD space is a commodity.

I think the title of the video is inaccurate. I don’t think it’s intentional. Your video doesn’t say why it’s not automatically updating, just how to go in and update it if it didn’t automatically update.

I haven’t had this issue yet, knock on wood lol. But, if it did happen I’d be curious as to why? Also, once you follow your tips on updating manually, will it start auto updating again on the next update, or will people with this problem keep having the problem?

Thanks for the help my ps5 showed it would take 106 minutes to make the latest update and sure enough i tried the safe mode method and it's smooth as butter

Before proceed on this method is good to delete first the already downloaded update file and then to update the software from safe mode menu as in the video .

Life saver. Not sure why the update wasn’t going through, but it worked perfectly fine when I did it through Safe Mode.
