In this video, I will explain the notation for "element of" a set and "not an element of" a set. I work several examples of how to determine if an element is a member of a set or not, including some tricky cases like the case when a set is an element of another set.

Dorcas Alao - To determine if an element is a member of a set, you must compare the element with the definition of the set. If the element is explicitly listed or satisfies the defining property of the set, then it is a member of that set.

The video helped me understand how to determine which set is used with which element which gives me a refresher on the different signs used on different questions.

I also learned that an Empty Set: The empty set ∅ has no elements, so no element can be a member of it.
