Teddy’s snoring should be an ASMR video. It’s very soothing ❤

I know this video is about the book reviews and I really enjoyed it. A few landed on my ever expanding TBR list. BUT…. The MVP of this video is Teddy! The snoring just tickles me. So happy, loved and comfortable. ❤❤❤❤.

Of the books mentioned I’ve read and loved 4.
Wild Houses ( audio for Mayo accent)
Intermezzo ( her best book so far)
My Friends ( great exploration of friendship, isolation and being a political refugee)
Our Evenings ( his best book yet )

Sister Outsider or Zami by Audre Lorde are good. Fun fact: Lorde was a Librarian in New York in the 60’s.

James is my #1 book this year (heard about it on your channel… so thank you!), and now I’m on the hunt for the rest of Percival Everett’s books! Currently reading Trees and loving it!

Thank you for pointing out Teddy was snoring - my cat is just sleeping by the laptop while I watch you and I was worrying about how loudly was he snoring.
I will be reading James and All Four next year. I'm waiting for the paperbacks to be published as the hardbacks are too expensive for me to ship abroad where I live. I'm also looking forward to get "The safekeep"

I've read Mariana Enriquez. Not that newest one but her novel "Our share of night" and a previous stories collection. I wouldn't say she's very graphic when it comes to body horror but more into psychology and political history of Argentina. But I'm an usual consumer of horror so.. maybe if your library has some of her books? For horror writing she's top notch.

I'll be checking out the other lists. I love genre reading. I have to be in the mood for it, but I love a good epic fantasy or space opera.

Thanks for doing these videos.

Small Rain is excellent but it probably won’t make you think about the political side of health care. It’s more about the fractures in the actual health care delivery system. One focus is about how disorienting it is to no longer be in control of your own body when you’re in the hospital. It is so well done and so accurate. One of my top 10 reads of the year.

I just made THAT face again when you said All Fours by Miranda July. You know, ☹️ that face.

I absolutely LOVE Maus and Fun Home. I really liked Palestine by Joe Sacco too. I should foray into graphic novels more.

Ooo Fury by Clyo Mendoza sounds amazing and I hadn’t heard of it!

Fascinating list! Perhaps the most interesting end-of-year list I've heard seen this year. Added several to my wish list. Had forgotten all about the Kelly Link and Clyo Mendoza books.

Dinaw Mengestu has been a writer for more than a decade. Someone Like Us is his fourth book. If you want to get to feel and know this writer, his first book, The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears maybe a good choice to read first.

So profoundly metaphorical… ya could definitely hurt someone w The Book Of Love …. Stupid joke aside —— that cover is stunning 📖🪱💚

Don't sleep on 'Sister Deborah'. I read it last month and enjoyed it quite a bit. I really liked the layered structure of the narrative. It's a weird little book, but a good weird.

I’ve read All Fours (and quite enjoyed it, I see it being a big book for women with MFAs teaching creative writing, well I guess I’m thinking of an old advisor of mine) & Intermezzo (my least favorite Sally Rooney so far as a Rooney lover). I’m very interested in reading The Coin soon. Surprised to not see Martyr! here??? I just read it this past week and absolutely ADORED it.

Oh! You will find Audre Lorde very rewarding. Sister Outsider is one of my top 5 books.

Love all the book lists. So many new to me books here. James and My Friends are still high on my list but there might be a few others that I might pick up too. 😊💙
