great stuff. I got a few of his antenna 49:1 kits. they work great ! I went with the FT 240 kit. and some extra winders. I turned his kit in to a 2 stack FT 240-61 wound with 10 AWG mag wire. 3 KV cap. made mono band wire for 6/10/11/12/15 meters. just switch wire . I run it veritable up DX commander 10 meter pole. I ran 400-500 watt FT8 in it. core heating no too bad. I cut a wire for 20 meters but too long for veritable on 10 meter pole, so I did what Lord Callum does for the 40 meter wire. fold back and bring down outher side. piece of tubbing at end of pole to hold wire. it works great. got a 1.4:1 on 20 meters FT8 so I left it. I put beads with letters/numbers on so I know what wire for what band. Idea came from Callum video. .73's

I'm new to the GMRS hobby, and still learning. I'm Currently monitoring with the Midland GXT mobile and rtl-sdr. I was wondering how well the 100ft of rg8X and my Tram-1411 discone scanner antenna I have @ 20ft would pair with the AnyTone AT-778UV mobile I plan on ordering from Amazon soon. Do you think this would have decent range for a beginner's base setup?
